National Parks and Recreation Month in Reno - Relocate to Reno with Charlene HamiltonThe Reno City Council announced last week that July would be National Parks and Recreation Month in Reno.  To promote good health and encourage more outdoor exploration with its citizens, the Reno City Council has announced these free activities throughout the month of July:

Teen Dance Group - Neil Road Recreation Center (3925 Neil Rd, Reno), Mondays and Thursdays in July from 5:30-7:30pm.  Teens are encouraged to drop in on the dance group and participate for free every Monday and Thursday throughout the month.

Pickleball for Seniors - Neil Road Recreation Center, July 13, 9-11:30am for Pickelball, 10-11:30am for Conversation Cafe group.  Don't know what Pickleball is?  Well, it's played on a badminton court where the net has been lowered to 34 inches.  Players use a plastic baseball (similar in appearance to a whiffle ball) and paddles (usually wood or some composite) and hit the ball back and forth for points (similar to tennis).  Learn how to play this fun sport for free on Tuesday, July 13th from 9-11:30am or just join in on coffee and pastries at the Conversation Cafe from 10-11:30am.

Rosewood Lakes Golf Course's 19th Birthday Celebration - Rosewood Lakes Golf Course (6800 Pembroke Dr, Reno), all day.  In honor of the course's 19th birthday, green fees have been rolled back to 1991 prices: $17 to walk and $24 to ride.

Free public swimming - Traner Pool (1600 Carville Dr, Reno), July 17th, 1-4pm.  Everyone can swim for free in their outdoor swimming pool.  Traner Pool also has a double water slide and water feature.  Usually, regular admission is $4 for adults, $2.50 for youth and $2 for seniors and children.  On July 17th, however, it is free!

Adopt-the-Grounds - Neil Road Recreation Center, July 26th, 10am-12pm.

The Neil Road Recreation Center is regularly open Monday through Friday from 9am-9pm and Saturday from 10am-9pm.  Get outdoors to enjoy National Parks and Recreation Month in Reno throughout July.  It's easy on your wallet and great for your health!
