MAWAHAHAHA! Active Rain what have you done? The world will never be the same!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with U.S. Cybertek, Inc.

Now you've done it! You have let me get Rainmaker status AND changed the state ranking pages so that my blog shows up more often.

"Shenanigans!" The Realtors cry! "It's so unfair! She's been here so much less time that we have and yet she shows up more often!"

That's right! With the new set up (Which I LOVE) the more active you are and the more often you blog, the more visible you are.

Sorry slackers! I know that you put in hours and hours of work to get where you were on the list. . . like two years ago, but that just will not cut it now. With the new way AR does things, the more effort you put in, the better your results. So you can sit on your status if you want, but you will be watching other more ambitious bloggers and Realtors fly by you if you don't continue to put in any effort.

The new AR is all about reaching that next level and about maintaning a standard of excellence. Business and Gardening 101 -  if you don't grow, you die. . . and since I don't see AR dying anytime in the near future, growth it is! Being the kind and compassionate people they are around here you will not get deleted, or cast adrift in the heartless cold of cyberspace, they are too nice for that. Instead, you will just be so buried under all the other great blogs that no one will ever find you. And whose fault is that? No one but your own. Or maybe mine . . . just a little bit. ;)

The moral of this blog post is this: If you want to lead the pack you have to be able to run the fastest and the best. So get those fingers going, start that keyboard singing and hit AR with your best shot. You never know you just might get yourself featured for your efforts!

In the mean time, watch out slackers, because here I come! No mercy will be shown and I will rise to the top and dominate! ( -->Insert evil laugh of choice here.) . . . .  Just as soon as I figure out how to export my blog. ;)

I like the idea of those currently active being given more credit than those that used to be active.

Very funny, yet real!  Good to see AR does not work on the model of 'build your empire and then watch everything from your high pedestal' :-)

You get what you put into it, I guess is the best way to look at it. If you stop participating, then you fall behind.

I commented on this blog, and then realized it was a re-post. So...... I'll re-comment on the original:

Those villainous AR gurus have once again found a way to force us to do what we should be doing in the first place!

As long as you don't tie any brokers to the railroad tracks, I think you'll be OK.

Now I'll go subscribe to your blog, because I expect great things in the future [Do you feel pressured?, mwawahahaha]

Hadn't heard of the change, must have been too busy to read that announcement but it makes a lot of sense, and I will be sure to keep up my blogging efforts!

Thanks for the informative post - I wasn't aware of the changes in the system either. I'm guessing that many of those who are complaining were looking at ranking and visibility as merely a points contest. Blogs with quality content or just some good natured humor are what I prefer to read. Keep that in mind as you blog, Phly, and you'll have my respectful attention as you "fly" to the top of the heap. All my best.

Ok. . . So, thank you all again for the amazing comments and for giving your point of view. I love it! I can't answer everyone, I have a 4 year old that requires my attention, and sorry, but she wins hands down in the needs-my-attention contest. Mostly cause she's cuter than everyone else! So I'll hit the ones that I can. Here goes -

Carol - Thanks Mom! (Yes, she actually is my mom, and probably needs your sympathy for having such a rascal of a child) ;)

William - I called AR this morning to confirm that particular rumor and was told . . . "If you are Grandfathered in and don't blog for 90 days, yes, you lose your status. If you are paying for rainmaker status, even if you never post anything, you keep it. "  Personally, if AR has been kind enough to give you rainmaker status, I think that you should have to work to keep it. But that's just me.

Robert - Sorry if it bonked you on the nose! We can still be friends though, right? ;)

Barbara - Thanks and like I said before; I want my blog to be just like yours when it grows up. ;)

Lyn - My oldest brother and I both snowboard, it's kinda our way of bonding. He once told me that if you never fall, you are not trying hard enough. Everyone fails horribly once in a while, it's what you do after you splat that matters most. :)

Joe - Not evil! Mildly malicious at most! But I like the way you think. ;)

Paul - Not at all. Volume does NOT get you featured or recognized, good posts in a timely fashion do. To be very blunt - garbage will always be nothing more than garbage. . . and all it does is stink.

Louis - LOL!!!! You are fantastic! And yes, yes I do feel a little pressured! ;)

Gary - Thanks! I think it helps that I can never seem to take myself too seriously, it keeps everything all in good fun. I try to get my point across in a manner that makes people smile, mostly because it makes me happy to do so.

*Deep Exhale* I'm done for now!

Well, I'm off to play Barbies! Someone really smart once told me that the chance to play barbies with your little girl is not around forever, so I'm taking advantage of it while I can. ;)

Barbara - Welcome to AR and Congrats! It really does make my day when something I post helps out other AR members, or at least gets them to laugh. Just keep on blogging.  Give it your best shot and you will do fantastic. ;)

Nicole - Thanks! *blushes* I'm going to have to be careful or my ego will end up the size of Texas because of all the compliments. ;) I dearly love comments and feedback; they let me know when I'm doing things right and when I need to adjust my perspective. So thanks for the comment!

I disagree with Lenn (#10), I contribute a lot to Active Rain. Maybe I just haven't grasped the changes yet and the significance.

I agree with you. You don't deserve the status unless you continue to put forth the effort. This is an integral spoke in your marketing wheel and it should never be neglected. Fun post to read too!!!

Carl - Thanks! Great comment! When people get complacent because of already achieved status, their business starts to get sloppy. However, if they continue to build on their successes then they can grow to heights that they never imagined. ;)
