Long has this subject been around and..... people have gotten a lot of mileage out of it. What does haunted mean and how come houses are involved in the process? Why do they remain haunted and how do you know or even get rid of the intruder (s),
HAUNTED: To inhabit, visit or appear in the form of a ghost.
HAUNTED HOUSE: A center for supernatural occurrences.
GHOST: the visible disembodied soul of a dead person.
I will be quick to disclose my opinion on this subject matter so that in sharing mine, we can get to yours of which I would be interested to hear.
My Opinion: The ghost inside a dark room or house is really coming from you, your mind and emotions fueled by your fears that produce a programmed result. I have tested this theory many times. If you shine a light on to anything you think you see or hear, it quickly discloses itself to be what it is...nothing. Turn the light off, and the mental phenomenon begins again. I maintain that it was never there, but you were. You are the on and off switch mechanism.
I once challenged myself to go into what you would consider to be a scary place...a place of dread and reputation. I went in alone. As I traveled toward the entrance, Fear of the unknown kicked in, which I dismissed, fear of dying, which I dismissed, fear of being taking, I dismissed this too and fear of fright of which I wondered about. Just where is this stuff coming from? What power can exist like that and have such ridiculous limitations? Why stop at scaring?......finish me off if you can do it.
Well, as soon as I dismissed all the pre-conceived passing-by notions, ideas and projections, right there I was tuned into the moment. I smelled the dust and the mold, I heard the creaking and sounds, the wind blowing through roof tops and broken glass and the movement of mice and material things like debris or discarded furniture reacting to the elements at large. Once full aware, you can feel the push and the pull of forces..........BUT "NOTHING" BUT WHAT I DESCRIBED WAS THERE......NOTHING. It was only me and them (or it) and "they" could have had me any which way they wanted. What happened? Perhaps they only talk a good game.
SPIELBERG, DISNEYLAND AND UNIVERSAL STUDIO'S MAKE A LIVING ON THIS SUBJECT
You see, I did not engage my imagination, I could not be intimidated by outside forces (real or otherwise) and the end result was that I was passing through a place that was just like any other. It was not a place to want to stay in because it offered no pleasure or value to do so. BUT, it was not a place to fear...thus not HAUNTED.
When I was a small kid, there were times when I was scared out of my mind. The witch in the Wizard of OZ did it for me. She represented everything a witch could be or do. If that wasn't enough, the witches that Disney came up with in their movies mesmerized me with fear. The end result: A witch would swing on a rope right in front of bedroom door (every night) preventing me from escaping from the room. Quickly you learn not to move and if you do move, it is to get under the covers. For some reason, witches had no power to lift the blanket and get you. For another, this one just wanted swing all night until morning or I fell asleep. What meaningless, stupid thing to do if I was a witch.....but I did not know that then...
I wondered were this swinging witch went to during the day, but no need to wonder about it at night. She just loved hanging out right there by the bedroom door. This went on for months. If someone would have assisted me here, perhaps the ordeal could have turned out different. Remember, I grew up and that witch went her way, but she was never there to begin with. I created her and when I was ready, I let her go.....
Next time you feel fear and are threatened by your thoughts and dread, go toward them and let them do their worst. That's right, let them show themselves, along with their monsters, ghosts, and other assorted nonsense. What you will find out for yourself is mental smoke & mirrors of your own doing. In other words, there is nothing there unless you put it there.
Assuming there is something there, just to show some respect for the opposing point of view, I want to point out that as a ghost or monster or whatever it is.....if all it does is go boo or whoo in the night, to me it is a complete waste of time. I would be embarrassed in the ghost world to be doing this type of work.
HAUNTED HOUSES....WHAT MAKES THEM HAUNTED.........YOU DO
