What Do YOU Do... When Somebody "Gets Your Goat ?"

By
Real Estate Agent with New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County

I was just answering some comments on one of my posts.  The post had lots of comments, and if you read my posts regularly, you know that I usually get some really great, introspective comments.

Well... one of my commentors was making his comment, and he said something about something that "gets his goat..." which he then explained.

All of which led ME to make the following self-question and observation:

-------------------

Serious question here.  When something "gets your goat..." What do you do ?  Do you go out and buy another goat, or do you just remain "goat'less ?"

I remember once... quite a while ago, when somebody really got my goat.  I was ticked.  And it wasn't the first time they had "gotten my goat."

So I thought... that's not gonna happen again.  I am NOT gonna have you get MY goat... and then be "goat'less" again.  So, I went out and bought TWO goats... so I'd have a spare the for the next time my "goat got gotten."

Well... ya gotta know what happened.  We split up.  No more of any of that "gettin' my goat" stuff.  But... since I now had TWO goats... just in case... I thought... "what the heck am I gonna do with this extra goat ?"

And then, wouldn't ya know it... my two goats got "romantic" on me.  Yeah... they "did it."  They had a kid.  So then I had THREE goats.  Well, technically, I had two goats... a mom goat and a dad goat... and one kid.  What a deal !

But... I guess it's just all a part of living in this frustrating world... and having my goat get gotten... one too many times.  Arrrggghhh !

Miss Wanda in # 18:  Ok... let me get this "straight."  You are suggesting that if we get TWO goats, that they NOT be a girl goat and a boy goat... because of what happened when you bought Bacon for Miss Prissy, and ended up with nine pigs... or piggies, or piglets... as the case may be, or may have been.

So... you are going in the direction of two goats, but of the same sex.  And, since we have been talking about goat cheese... from milking the girly goats... the nannies... then what we end up with, is two girl goats.

Hmmm.  The thought of lesbian goats never entered my mind... but you have opened up a new can... I guess... of goat's milk.  Dubble Hmmm.  An entire herd of lesbian goats... being milked as a source of goat cheese.  Wanda... this is brilliant !

Now... what was it you were saying about the places my imagination goes with stuff like this ?  <smile x 2>

By the way... has anyone pressed the "suggest" button yet ?  LOL.  Inquiring goats want to know.

When someone gets my goat, I let 'em have it. The goat, that is. I never wanted the damn goat in the first place. Having grown up on a dairy farm, when I think of grass-eating, milk-giving animals, I prefer cows. Especially cows with bells. The more bells the better. More cowbell, please. But I guess having only one goat is a good thing. Because once someone has gotten your goat, it's gone and you have no more goats, so your goat can never be gotten again. Got goat? Good grief...good night.

Marchel:  Ohhh... the poor lil goat.  Sending it our in the desert.  Well, if it's the Arizona desert you sent it out in... just make sure it has it's "papers" with it.  The last thing we need is to have your errant goat being accused of being "illegal."

And yes, I have noticed as well... that the older I get... the more relaxed I get.  But, I still occasionally end up with someone running off with my goat.

So, you've got some goat rustlers in Spring, Texas too, huh.  Yeah, there are a few up here in Fort Worth, as well.  I just hate that... but I guess they are just about everywhere.  I bet there are some in Tomball, too.  Whaddya think ?

I always have an excess supply of goats.  You see a lot of people get my goat - so I have to have "spare goats."

Karen - this is funny. I like the idea of having multiple goats so that no one gets the last one.

Hi Karen Anne... How does Mollie T. Cat get along with your goats?  I can't quite picture that!

John in # 36:  Good thing I did not walk in on them "writhing in the throes of orgasmic response," huh ?  What a goat'astrophe !  We were all kidding, all three of us.  The two goats, and Moi !  And, I am going to end this comment right now, rather than try to milk it for all it's worth.  Aren't ya glad ?

Steve in # 37:  Yes, I guess it sounds kinda "goat'esque."  At least that's what Mollie T said.  Although she DID say she might know of a market for some black market lesbian goat videos.  There are times when I really WONDER about whether therapy might be an option for Miss Mollie T.

Paula:  Hmmm.  Taking the easy way out, huh ?  That doesn't sound like you.  I thought you were a more adventurous soul than that.  Another illusion shattered.  And, if you give away your one and only goat now... what is left to give... later ?  Yer taking an awful chance, hon.

Kristen:  I think Mollie T would be totally in agreement with option Number Two... the nap option.  She has also told me in no uncertain terms.. that she does NOT do goats.  Trust me, I believe her.

I like the idea of eco-friendly lawn mowers.  That's funny, but just hearing those two words... lawn mower... takes me way, way back about thirty-four years ago, to when my "darling" daughter Robin used to call the lawn mower... the lawn motor.  I guess it made sense, cuz it DID mow the lawn, and it DID have a motor.  But zoom... just hearing those words... and back into the past my mind went.

So, goat cheese is yummy.  Ok... with your recommendation, I just might try some.  Wonder where I can get some that will be well prepared, and reasonably fresh.  I bet Steve Shatsky would know.  He knows all that kinda stuff.  He just isn't all that into goats, is all.  And no... from what you say, it sounds like the last thing I want... is "goaty" goat cheese.

Lou:  Staying cool rather than letting someone get my goat can be tough.  Staying cool, and doing it in 107 degree heat like it was here yesterday, is even worse.

Karen Anne - I, of course, had to do a little research on goats thanks to your post!  The average goat life expectancy is 15-18 years.  I also found out that Twins are most common with goats and sometimes triplets or even quadruplets....Be careful, You could have enough goats for all of us if those 2 keep at it!  No Kidding!

Well I see I missed all the fun last night! Wow after Amy doing her research you could end up with quite a herd! I guess it's better to have them around just in case you need them!

I have a few friends who raise goats. You can make goats milk soap, and sell it for good money I might add.

And goats stink... just thought I would add that in.

My goal in life is to keep my goat close at hand, never to let anyone get my goat. Although someone got my goat today I am getting it back.

Goat thieves should be hung then horsewhipped, or the other way around.
