Tech Tips - Did you Know? [Series - Part 1]

did you know

Often during the course of the day, I'll do something on the computer where I'll think "that's really cool, there's probably a lot of people that don't know you can do that!" I have a Facebook Page called Craig's Classroom where I often post these tips and you can follow if you are interested. Meanwhile, my favorite tips are often too small in themselves to create a whole article on. I decided to start this blog series where I compile 5 tips at a time. Here is the first of this series.

1

Click a file then momentary pause, click it again - goes into RENAME mode

2

Ctrl+MouseWheelRoll works
as ZOOM command
(Internet Browser, MS-Word, MS-Excel)
tip: Ctrl+0 (that's a zero) resets to 100%
in browser when you need it

3

Double Click the title bar
of a window to Maximize it
(double-click again to restore back after)

4

Alt+PrintScreen
captures your ACTIVE window
(i.e. screenshot) as graphic on your clipboard -
You can then paste it somewhere
(in MS-Word for example)
have you ever wanted to print out a list of files
in a folder, this is one way to do it

5

WindowsKey+M - shortuct to Minimize All - (Windows key commands are often overlooked)

I use 2 all the time, I think I got this from PhotoShop use, On my laptop I do not use a mouse, so to zoom in/out I use "ctrl + -" or crtl + =" then "ctrl + 0" to return to normal.

I can't wait to try ALT + print scrn.  I'm always wanting to save something on screen.  I also make frequent use of Enter / Shift now that I learned that tip from your other post.  Thanks!

Craig, I didn't know about number two or five.  Five would have come in handy a few times.
