DONT MAKE EATING......PART OF YOUR REWARD.

Very often, you may find yourself standing in front of the refrigerator right after eating....What are you looking for if you just ate? Something is missing and food will not satisfy it. You keep trying to feed it so it will stop pestering you. You find out through trial and error that it doesn't go away......and then you eat again and again

WARNING: I am going to be discussing something that some people may find sensitive. It is not my intent to single anyone out, make fun of them, or judge them. This post......is submitted for our benefit......

When someone is out of their flow, when they are not in tune with themselves or their environment, they tend to compensate for that dis-order in other ways. Eating is one of the easiest things to do for the wrong reasons. Eating for the wrong reasons can keep you from your rewards, your potentials and your destiny.

Consider that:

1. Eating is fun and very satisfying in the moment

2. Comfort foods such as macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes or even potato chips make us feel good.

3. Eating can help you forget. Next time you eat, try staying in the moment while you are eating and see how your mind wanders..

4. It's a quick fix and a Universal one...eat something, you'll feel better......

5. It can have the effect of a sedative making you dull and too comfortable. the over-full feeling....yuck!

WE HAVE TO EAT.......!

By all means keep up your strength. Eating small portions through out the day will do that. Eat what is good for your body....NOT GOOD FOR YOU. I am referring to the Ego. It has its ways of controlling and rewarding you. Ice Cream, second helpings of anything, chocolate milk, candied apples, donuts, pastries, fats, sweets, all feed the ego first,..... then you. We, end up straving...for life

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO EAT.......?

Only when you are hungry and not when someone says it's lunch time or breakfast is ready. Eating when you are not hungry programs you to a bad habit. This habit, when it grows, just happens to show...an it is not your best side.

Rewarding children with food just sets them up to be motivated by eating....not accomplishing. You can treat yourself to certain goodies from time to time, but do it for the right reasons, know that you are doing it and do not make it a habit, but a once in a while thing.

IF YOU MUST EAT...THEN BURN IT OFF....OFFSET IT

Food should not be the focus of our every day lives. Do you remember ever skipping a meal because you were so busy either having fun or working hard? How about during an emergency, there is no craving for food, just action.. Go back to this. Keep in mind.....you can go without food for 30 days or longer. All I am saying is that reducing your intake will not kill you, but make you more aware.

Worth Noting: Police dogs, when being trained, are rewarded with "toy" time and not with food

Find the right reason to eat... Put eating in its place... Don't let it steal from you... Seek a greater reward...

Learn to eat to live properly....and not live to eat incorrectly. It takes time and discipline.....but is doable and reward-able to the inner portion instead of the outer portion

Hi Richie. It's hard NOT to reward yourself with food when you are happy. I've been trying to eat only when I'm hungry and it can be hard!

I agree 100%. I eat food that tastes mediocre at best at least once a day. Right this minute I am eating plain oatmeal at my desk and I had a fiber bar when I woke up 3 hours ago. I eat food that is good for me AND will fill me up the most. The answer to this..fiber. Eating oatmeal when hungry will fill you up instantly and provide you with enough fiber to make you feel full for quite a while. I also eat quinoa with my meals instead of pasta or rice as its high in perfectly balanced protein and is actually a relative of spinach but appears more like a rice. It is high in magnesium so migraines stay away and I stay extremely full. The key is to make sure you are staying satiated throughout the day. When that sweet craving hits me the apple in my lunchbag does the trick. Its low in calories and HIGH in fiber and is sweet. I think of my body as a well oiled machine and the food that I eat is just fuel in my tank. Too many people fill up with sludge and their engine knocks to the point that they keel over and die and their loved ones wonder why. You eat to live, not live to eat.

Richie, The obesity issue in America has already reached near pandemic levels and still the focus is more on quantity instead of quality.  I developed a habit years ago that would drive the depression era mentality crazy...I do not eat everything on my plate.  Leave it, save it, toss it....whatever...the "clean your plate" mentality was just the beginning of the issue of obesity in this country.  Then, add the "fast food" and huge portions in most restaurants and that so few people cook a meal and dine together..........oh vey, you hit a personal nerve with this one!

LaNita....it is hard. Now you can see the power of hypnosis at work in you. Programming and reinforced bad eating behavior has built a strong foundation that a little wind cannot knock down. You are going to have to Unlearn and then Learn and there will be some discomfort in the process. Is it worth it? Well, what price would you put on feeling your best? Any effort put into this subject will pay off 100 fold......good luck.........LaNita

Joe....we switched places. You wrote the post and I am commenting. Very good input. There were and are times when I have forced my self to eat having reduced eating to a chore....a necessity and almost a bother. I reached the point where I knew if I did not eat, I couldn't keep strength and endurance at optimum. I did as you described and also had my customized routine. BTW....you mentioned the APPLE....what a marvelous piece of nutritional work. Just stare at it before you bite into it. What a wonderful gift from the planet to us.....They keep doctors away you know....lol

The fact is your argument may not sustain longevity when a sale has closed.  The first thing we do is celebrate,,, rounds for everybody who worked hard, dinner, lunch and we head for those delicious and nutritious treats and entrees, and desserts that we normally would not partake of, and if we keel over, so what, we just get back up  wipe our chin, and get back in the race. Thanks for the post, lots of fun.

DD...your comment is very accurate and appropriate. I am a plate cleaner. I have licked plates clean....(In my younger years) and I noticed that if the plate was loaded, I would finish it. I had the symptoms of eating like a dog. What ever you place in front of them, they would eat it up and lick it clean.  Think: Here Richie, here boy..... I have since recovered and have some discipline and dignity on the subject matter. This subject can dominate you like weeds in a garden if you are not vigilant....DD

Close of escrow parties have their own rules......Do what you must, but in between those times, one would hope that you sustain and "work-out" so that you can participate again. Darren...ever since the invention of TV, peoples eating habits started to change. Then, Swanson came out with the TV dinner, my life went south. Who doesn't like eating and watching TV? Heck, how about Snacking and watching a movie on the giant screen? Don't get me started...here (yum). We all need to take a look at this and this post is submitted for your consideration.
