New Droid Phone is Changing My Old Habits

New Droid Phone is Changing My Old Habits

For the past couple of years I have lusted for an iPhone.   But, I found myself in a bind because AT&T phone coverage in my geographic area has lots of dropped calls and missed calls.  My daughter Caroline always whines about our poor AT&T phone service in Atlanta as she suffers through dropped and missed calls on her visits home.

So, I am pretty much locked in to Verizon as my phone supplierI absolutely can not afford to have any dropped or missed calls.  I forward all my calls to my cell phone when I leave the office so this is my lifeline to all the marketing I do.  I have to have 100% of my calls coming through all the time.

For years I have used the Blackberry to bring the Internet and email to me while moving around Atlanta (and the world).  My trusted Blackberry was reliable and could get the job done.  But the interface was just not so great for getting on the Internet.  Email was fine.  For voice I kept a separate phone because I could never adjust to talking on the blackberry.  It was heavy and I did not like the interface.

Finally I have found a solution I like.  I moved to the Droid on Verizon and find myself liking pretty much everything about it

The pullout keyboard keeps all the functionality of the Blackberry.  And the keyboard is easier to use.  The Internet interface is outstanding and all my Google apps are working great,  Because I use a Google based EMAIL for my work, everything about email is now easier and more intuitive.  And surfing the Internet is fabulous.  I am also able to read documents and faxes that were just about impossible to see on the Blackberry.  I have already found myself using Google in the workplace so the transition has been almost painless.

Downside: battery life is not so great.  I am going to need chargers everywhere.  In the car, at the office and at home..

I have been moving in that direction since Sprint offers a bundle plan phone, text and Internet for $69.99. Great for a real estate agent.

Now that supra is offering eKey for the iPhone I guess I'm just going to have to put up with my blackberry until the iPhone comes to verizon. Hate the blackberry but I'm just not going back to the horrid white box of death.

Nice to hear that you like your droid. Wonder if they are going to come out with an ekey ap?

Carol: I was also a Palm person along the way.  I seem to have floated along with the technologoes.

Emily: yes, it is all about the coverage and it varies from state to state.  I think you will like the Droid

Toni and Harry: I looked at going to Sprint this time around.  Their coverage is good in Atlanta.  Sounds like a good option.

Julia: Yes, the iPhone has a big advantage with the eKey.  I too thought Verizon might bring the IPhone to the market but I could not wait any longer.  Yes, would love to have the ekey for the Droig and eliminate my bulky lockbox key from the pocketbook.
