Apple Hasn't Heard We're In A Recession

Had a lovely date with my husband yesterday. We had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory after visiting the Apple Store at Perimeter Mall in Atlanta. I thought if we got to the Apple store early, we would be able to look at everything at our leisure. Wrong! The store was full of customers with people waiting in line to pay for their purchases.

They seemed to have more staff (wearing their blue Apple shirts) than most other stores in this economy,  but there still wasn't enough for the demand. I finally got someone to demonstrate the Ipad to me. I told him I was a realtor and a lot of my friends were buying it. I wanted to see it demonstrated. I then asked for a brochure (so I could remind Santa). He said everything they had was online and they tried to keep it paperless. I would have loved to have a brochure to look at later, but no luck.

As you looked around the room, the average age was about 25. They definitely have some neat products and would loved to have stayed and played a little longer. The demonstration Ipad didn't have any of the cool apps that enhance your business, so I couldn't see how they worked. I guess I just have to go online and research more. There is no doubt I want one, it's just a matter of how much money it will cost. By the time you add Apple Care and a case, I will spend $1000. I just need to wait a little longer on that one.

Debra, we experienced the EXACT same thing that you did... we ate at Cheesecake Factory in Fashion Valley and walked over to the Apple store and it was PACKED with people buying lots of tech goodies!  One end of the country to the other!  ~ Susan

I truly is amazing. Other stores are cutting down and they have all the business.

Read the reviews, including reviews you can find on Active Rain.  Often a first introduction of a product is a breakthrough.  As they build the user base, they learn about shortcomings and make improvements on later releases.  (This applies to all products, not just Apple.)  And you should probably make sure that all essential software you use is compatible. And yes, the Apple store seems to be always crowded.

Debra, I heard the next version of the ipad will have ability to print.  I don't have an ipad -- sounds a little expensive for what I would use it for.  Good luck,

Pamela, I would love to see one that printed. I seem to print everything and it would really be beneficial to me. I wonder if they will be at NAR?

Debra, with the ipod touch, they seem to have a new version every year.  I don't know if that will be the pattern for the ipad.

Thanks Dan. I'll keep watching, maybe the price will come down too (hopeful thinking).
