Mystery Photo Contest: The Answer and the Winner

Last month's Mystery Photo Contest took us up to the skies with this photo and the following two questions:

Mystery Photo - aerial shot-SF Bay Area

1.       What is the name of the mountain in the distance?
2.       What is the name of the large, flat island to the left of the bridge?

I'm happy to announce that the winner of last month's Mystery Photo Contest is Rosalie Hughes, a newsletter reader who lives in San Carlos, California. She correctly identified the mountain in the distance as being Mount Diablo and the island to the left of the bridge as Treasure Island. Rosalie, I hope you enjoyed the gift cards to 2 of San Carlos' locally-owned businesses, My Breakfast House Cafe and Zest Bakery.

Just a reminder for those of you who aren't living here in San Mateo County or the Silicon Valley, this contest is for you, too! If you're the winner, your certificate will be a Starbucks card, or theater tickets. This is not just a local contest.

Another contest will be posted at the end of September, so check in then and play along.

Jane--you really need to fly up for a 3-day weekend (or more!) Then you, too, would be familiar with this view! Michael O'Conner from southern California (Mira Loma) won one of the contests, so you can, too.

Kidding aside, Most months I try to find one question that many might know, regardless of where they live, so you do have a chance. Check back on September 30--I'm liking my thought for the next contest!

Kathy - Mt. Diablo, indeed, is a BIG mountain, and Danville is a pretty town. In another 6 or so weeks the weather ought to allow one to get out hiking and enjoying it again. Sure gets hot there in the summer!
