Jay Shafer does not like vacuuming or dusting or, probably more importantly, having a big footprint and using up too many non- renewable resources.

Here is is in front of one of his homes (this photo may be copywrited). His video is rather fascinating as you tour one of his houses. It includes interior shots and explanations of his concepts. He has appeared on Oprah and on numereous magazine covers.

He is not even the only person building such structures, either.  Gregory Johnson, founder of the small house society writes a blog showing all kinds of people engaged in this movement and many examples of the tiny little structures.  How would you host a large Thanksgiving dinner in one of these?

Well, really you wouldn't nor would that be a high priority to you.

When so many people rattle around in a 4,0000 square house with 5 bathrooms, this provides quite a contrast and a very interesting perspective on a lifestyle quite different from urban or suburban living.

Very cool - I loved seeing the interior as I have seen articles about these houses, but could not visualize how it would work.  That bedroom would so not work for us, though - LOL - the dog couldn't navigate those steps...and it makes me slightly claustrophic!  But downstairs is cool and I can see how some people could live like that.

Hi Barbara, cute little house.  How many square feet its it?  You would have to be organized to live in such a small space.

Town or Country, in Colorado, we do it all.

Great idea for some folks.  Downsizing to the extreme!  Possibly something a farm and ranch Realtor could afford.  :-)

Thanks-check out the video link, Scott-it is pretty cool!

Yes, Susan, sort of like sleeping in a train compartment-gotta have your pooch, too!

He has many designs, Liz!  You sure would have to be organized!

Very affordable, Richard. : )  It can move around easily to different parts of the ranch, too. : )

Barbara,

There is quite a movement toward this type of "home".  Beats being homeless for sure. I don't think I could do that.  It would be claustrophobic..

It would be very confining, Judi!  That is for sure!

Hi Tina-you are one up on me till I saw this!  Interesting, isn't it?

LOL Eric- "normal" CMA's are hard enough!  : )
