The Mighty Sound of Maryland Wins Hawaii Five-O Contest

The Mighty Sound of Maryland outperformed 17 other college and university marching bands to win the Hawaii Five-O Marching Band Mania and a prize of $25,000.  They'll aso appear on an upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-O.

The winning video of the Hawaii Five-O theme song was made during a performance at the opening game of the season against Navy, played at the Ravens Stadium in Baltimore.

 

 

Troy University, Texas State, Indiana University, University of Hawaii, Notre Dame University, Gettysburg College, Yale University, Texas Christian, University of Central Oklahoma, Otterbeim University, University of Montana, University of Minnesota, Northwestern State, Indiana State, Clemson, Pittsburg State and Stillman College also competed.  To view all the videos, click on this link to CBS Hawaii Five-O.The winner was announced at the conclusion of tonight's episode of Hawaii Five-O.

Cynthia - It was great on the field, and I'm glad it looked so good on the video

Lessa - I think we take the Mighty Sound of Maryland for granted sometimes.  When I watched the other videos, I was reminded of just how good Maryland's marching band is.

Dick and Dixie - I have two nephews who played in the band, and they worked as hard as any athlete.  Nice to see them get this recognition.

Margaret that was just way to cool.  In Birmingham we have the annual Battle of the Bands and they are always amazing to watch.
