Emotional Attachment To A House

By
Home Stager with Stage and Sell by Stacy, LLC

I am beginning to see a correlation between being a parent and staging a house.  As a mother of 2 children, I love them both equally.  However, my children do not require the same amount of attention each day.  Some days, my daughter, (Abby age 9 the Drama Queen) needs a crisis resolved.  The next day all is right with her world and my son (15 years old with a learner's permit) needs my wisdom.

Each time I stage a house, I go thru a creative process.  Some projects are complete within a day or two and I leave the house knowing I gave all I have to give to that house.  However, there is that one.  The one that has been on the market 8 months before the realtor/buildrer called you.  The one the builders just want to sell, sell now and quit worrying about it.  The one you as a stager really want to come thru for.  On Wednesday, I completed this stage.. On Thursday, I went back just to add one more prop to the guest bathroom.  On Friday, I returned to place an additional basket of towels in the master bath.  Today, I repainted old chairs to place on the front porch.  Tomorrow is the Open House.  It feels like one of my children's dance recitals, football game or school play.  I just want the house to go out there and do it's best.  Break A Leg House....

Stacy, Very, very nice work. You have done a very fun job of putting this together. I join so many in the crowd who are saying, "Yea for red."

Yvonne,

Thanks, this was actually the most fun.  Red has always been one of my favorite colors.

This is a really witty analogy and I couldn't help but giggle your final words. Cute. That is a great house, but I can see how an average person would have trouble visualizing their things in the open floor plan. Great work.

Penny:  Keep your fingers crossed everything goes as planned with the closing.

Maureen:  Sleepless nights paid off.

Thank you to both of you for the compliments.

Is it just me or does anyone else wake up in the middle of the night to write down an idea for a project?

I know what you mean about the one more thing!  Sometimes you could just keep tweaking.  The only one that will ever know is you.  Great job!

I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one who wakes up in the middle of the night, I now keep a notebook and pen next to the bed.

My husband recently pointed out that I talk of the houses as though they were children; Audrain needs a new entry floor, I've got to pick up a comforter for Shadowhawk...ect so I understand the connection too!

The house looks fantastic and congratulations!

Sue: I am a work in progress. Sometimes, I just have to say..."finished."

Lisa:  oh my gosh....last night I told my husband I had to take limes to Brentwood..( a street name)... like Brentwood was a person.....

Stacy,

I know exactly what you are saying!  We want those houses to sell just as much, if not more, than the sellers!  We give it our 'all' and want to make certain that we have done everything possible to enable the house to entice prospective buyers.

You did a wonderful job!  Thanks for sharing your photos.

Val:  You nailed my sentiments.  It is so hard for me not to call the real estate agent weekly and ask if anyone saw the house this week.  And I want to know what they say.   Luckily, one of the realtors I work with has been great about giving me feedback.

Jaynee:  Thanks for the shout out..

To all of my fellow stagers, I will toast you all with a glass of wine tonight.  May all our projects sell quickly.

Cheers,

Stacy

The house looks great and it is sooo true, this house becomes our baby. I spend more sleepless nights planning the design and then everything has to be perfect. I tweak until I can tweak no more. BUT AHHH When it sells it is GREAT...congrats
