Put your fist in a bucket of water.........

By
Mortgage and Lending with Central Pacific Homeloans

There have been a lot of posts lately on Integrity, Honesty, Cheating, etc.  All of these issues are just a form of self aggrandizement.  I was watching the talking heads this morning and they were all over Sen. Craig from Idaho for his sex scandal, Sen. Clinton for her campaign funds, and they were really being so hypocritical.  All trying to make them selves feel somehow larger at some one else's expense

I don't recall what the issue was but I was complaining to my Dad about not getting the recognition I thought I should have for what ever I had done.  He said, if you are so darn important "Put your fist in a bucket of water and then pull it out and see how long the hole stays there".    I have remembered that all my life.

P.S.  How long did your hole stay there?

Good Luck, Good Lending, and Aloha

Very nice.

Folks are always looking for affirmation.  I keep telling them that you don't do credit for doing what you're supposed to do.

Do something extraordinary and I'll give praise.

Doing your job is what you get paid for.

Yes, I'm a cantankerous old goat.

Hi Lenn -- Amen Sister, I agree with you fully, and neither one of us is OLD as I refuse to accept it.  I can, and I bet you can too, run circles around these youngsters.  Remember that old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill.  Aloha

Why thank you Lenn!  hehe.  I thought she was praising me as I feel I am extraordinary...haha.

Bruce...Lenn's so wonderful with her hard core real estate posts. I am very honored when she graces my posts with her presence.

Now...the other part. It is always going to be a struggle to "work" around alomst 46k members. And I know I won't always agree with some of the goings on. I especially feel so stumped when something happens and I am just sitting there with a questionable look on my face that no one can see ....wondering how in the world do some people think up stuff like that...let alone....use up all their time and energy to do this stuff.

And so ....life goes on. I do what I do and that's all I can do.

Hi, I just referred to one of the life lessons you have shared with so many..."the integrity bucket." Your Dad had a lot of excellent advice resting on that bucket! Thank you!

Bruce-It does get disgusting on this site for sure with all of the complaining and whining going on.  There are too many posts about negatives issues.  Thats enough of a comment otherwise I will be putting myself in with them and I dont want that. Aloha and have a great day.

Bruce, I could not agree more. I have been wondering what is up with all of the posts about cheating and such here on Active Rain. Most of these typically done as an act of self promotion and a gab at some one else. We need to realize that be writing posts or comments about fellow active rainers criticizing them or what they write about does not lift them up. Staying positive will lift you up, rants and negative posts don't. After being the subject of a couple of posts and comments I began to wonder if I should post about them and what that person was doing. I realized that if I continue to write and post things that either I think potential clients would enjoy or things that I think could be an encouragement to other here on the rain then this was what I should focus on. Stooping does not raise us up. Staying positive and true does.

By the way, this is why I enjoy all of your posts so much.

Bruce - I was told once that your 'affirmations' [rewards] will be in Heaven... anything you receive here is a gift from above... It's kept my perspective VERY humble...

Bruce,  I couldn't find the hole in the bucket...just got my hand wet, and it took more effort to go find the towel: guess I'm not so important :)

PS: My best to you in the next few days.......

Hi Kathy -- LOL and thanks so much for your kind thoughts, i cherish them.  Aloha

Hi Jay -- I am so sorry to say you are exactly right.  Through a long set of circumstances, His job locations, my military assignments, 2 years in Vietnam and many months in the field when not deployed I did not see much of my Dad from the time I was 16 and he died at the agfe of 57.  I am so sorry that I did not spend more time with him.  He was a great golfer and i took up golf at 26 and am hooked on the game and I am pretty good too but I never played a round with my Dad and that is one of my biggest regrets.  Aloha
