ReTune Nashville Auction and Concert Saturday October 23!ReTune Nashville

ReTune Nashville is a benefit concert for uninsured musicians with the money being distributed through the Nashville Musicians Association Flood Relief Fund and MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief. This non-profit was started by Sheri O'Neal. She like every Nashvillian was haunted by the terrible images of the Nashville disaster in May. Where most people saw images of mud and debris, Sheri saw a guitar just laying on a pile of trash.

Thus the birth of ReTune Nashville which sells artwork that has been created from flood-damaged instruments. The money is to help musicians who suffered loss - loss of work or home - due to the catastrophic flooding of May 1st and 2nd.

There will be a benefit Concert on Saturday at Soundcheck Nashville where many of the destroyed instruments were stored before the flood. Lead guitarist for Toby Keith, Rich Eckhardt, said all the instruments that he use with Toby were destroyed in the flood. In addition to donating many of these damaged instruments to ReTune Nashville, he also volunteered for the time-consuming music director for the Benefit Concert.

Sheri O'Neal of ReTune Nashville

Shari, the Founder of ReTune Nashville says that the main role of the concert is to create awareness for the on-line auction which will continue until the first anniversary of the flood.

The first items will be auctioned during the concert and many items will be displayed there. Then approximately 10 items per month will be auctioned off. Clothing designer Manuel decorated a guitar for the auction. He painted it turquoise and covered it with flowers and rhinestones. Some pieces have been painted, others turned into jewelry, lamps and furniture!

Some of the performers will be Kentucky Thunder, Jamie O'Neal, Jeremy Lister, Derek St. Holmes, Sean O'Bryan and Eddy Raven.

Soundcheck Nashville is located at 750 Cowan Street. Concert will be from 7 to 11:30. For more information go to www.ReTuneNashville.org or watch the short video where Sheri shares the details and her thoughts.

Connie, will you be attending the concert?  I bet it will be a lot of fun and I hope they raise a lot for the cause.  I'd like to see that turquoise guitar!

I saw this article Connie, what a wonderful event this will be.  So sad that along with the human tragedy of the floods that much of this music history in the way of these instruments was devastated.

Ann - I had already invited people to my house when I heard about it. I can't wait to hear how it went.

Mike - wasn't it a great article. I'm looking forward to seeing the items in the on-line auction.

Pam - The nice thing is that it will continue on until next May! I'll probably do some updates as I see what's online at the Auction!
