New Port Richey, FL  As you all know by now, we have a new kitten named Shayna (SPCA Suncoast alumni). She's discovering all kinds of weird and wonderful things. We also have a Sandhill Crane family that includes Mom, Dad and 2 kids that wander around the golfcourse. One day, Shayna and the Sandhills got up close and personal. Maybe it's not only beauty that is in the eye of the beholder?

Shayna: Whoa, what are those really strange creatures? And why are they coming over here?

Shayna: They are so weird looking.

Papa Sandhill Crane: She thinks WE'RE weird looking? Somebody get this kitten a mirror!

How cute.  I'm sure there are a lot of questions in both their minds about the other species.  Nice there is a screened porch in between them.

Cindy: Yes, that was a major factor in the encounter.

Tony: Thank you. Shayna may turn out to be a bonanza for blog fodder :)

Very cute!  We have a family of turkeys that wanders through the yard on occasion.  I don't think my cats have noticed them yet though.

We have turkeys too, Chris. But they haven't been by this close to the house (or Shayna) yet :)

Great shots! I was about to ask why she didn't chase them and then I saw the screen!

That is terrific.  The kitten is absolutely beautiful - but those cranes take my breath away!  Great shots and really cute post.

Debra - Thank you. Yes, Shayna feels safer with the screen there but Sandhills have been known to poke their beaks through them.

Susan  Thank you. We love the birds and deer that we see on the golf-course.
