This poor economy we find ourselves in has created a bunch of polite people.

Have you noticed that almost every where you go to shop, that the clerks are more friendly, they say "thank you" (except the post office) and they tell you that they want you to come back?

It must be a sign of the times, but I'm kind'a diggin it!

With the stark reality that you're lucky to have a job, combined with corporate trying to hang on to their share of the market, it's refreshing to me as a consumer to have a lot of attention, and have people fall all over themselves trying to help me, instead of the way things were 4-5 years ago.

I actually walked into Home Depot today, and had a greeter ask me if I needed help.

In the "old days", you were lucky to find an employee at Home Depot, let alone any place else!

I HAVE noticed this, too, and just love the improved customer service.  I think many people are grateful to have their jobs.  Nothing wrong with a little positive attitude adjustment.

I think employers can be a wee bit more selective now over who they are hiring.   So many applicants for every job opening.  Stands to reason that they will get the better employee now that professionals are applying for entry level positions.

Hi Larry, I have noticed some businesses trying to generate goodwill as well.

Hubs just mentioned tonight as we went out to eat that there seems to be a slight shift in the economy.  Our lives were not directly affected, when things fell apart, and eating out, became something we often seemed to be doing alone, no one, or few others in the restaurant.  These days, we have had to wait for a table...Courtesy is certainly a nice by-product of the tough times!

Not down here in San Diego. The only polite people are those at McDonald’s and Walmart.
