Duboce Triangle, San Francisco, CA 94114: Neighborhood Snapshot (3):

By
Real Estate Agent with Zephyr Real Estate, San Francisco BRE# 01265683

Whenever I think of Duboce Triange, the first thing that comes to mind is Duboce Park with its wonderfully open sunny expanse and dog friendly atmosphere.  It's an amazing neighborhood to call home...especially for those keen on having a variety of public transportation options that are easily accessible without giving up the "quiet" neighborhood ambiance.

Duboce Triangle

From the video narrative...

"There's much to love in this tiny sliver of San Francisco. Duboce Triangle is bounded by Market Street to the south, Hayes Valley to the north, and is just northeast of the Castro. Two of its points are bustling Muni streetcar stations, offering quick and easy access to downtown. The neighborhood is graced with charms that make it feel like an oasis in the urban landscape. With flat streets and light traffic, Duboce Triangle is very accessible for bicyclists; the popular bike path known as "The Wiggle" runs through the neighborhood, and packs of cyclists can be spotted streaking past the area's gracefully adorned Victorian and Edwardian single family homes and multi-unit buildings. Duboce Triangle VideoThe heart of this little hood is Duboce Park, a popular grassy park popular with dogs and their owners, which sports a new children's playground at its western end. This is a relatively warm part of town, as Twin Peaks and Buena Vista Heights block much of the fog, and its not unusual to see people lingering outside at sidewalk cafes, showing off their furry friends or sharing neighborhood news. The neighborhood also benefits from its proximity to the businesses on Market Street, where you can find all the basics including dry cleaners, organic foods, and a gym. The nearby historic F line streetcars rattle past quite frequently, taking more easy-going commuters and tourists between downtown and the Castro. Duboce Triangle is an ideal place for those seeking a relaxed, yet vibrant, home base."

Thanks Roger...I'm having fun with these snapshots.  I always "glaze" over at pure "stats" so this format makes it a little more entertaining.  Then again, you know I'm a visual kind of guy.

I do know that about you, and appreciate it too...........keep the snapshots coming :~)  Pure "stats" don't work for me either.  You're making SF more enticing with each post.

David, After a big dose of Canal St. in New Orleans I'm rethinking small town life and heading west to Duboce Triangle. You are great at these localisms.

David- I had to add to what Roger said... looking at just stats is beyond boring.  I like the snapshots and the tidbits of information about the neighborhoods.  You should put them in a book.

Thanks David.  I went to SF State in the 70's and loved every minute of living in SF. I enjoy your posts and re-live my days and of course now I'm getting good information from a native.

Roger, I'll balance it out soon with some "not-so-exciting-but-interesting-in-their-own-right" neighborhoods as well.

LOL, Charles...I'm guessing you had a really great time at "camp".  Welcome back.

Hey...we're just visual people, I guess, Kathy.  I'm with 'ya.

See Peggy...you can learn something new every day,  ;-)

Appreciate that Tish.  Next time you visit out here (or send a client this way...hint...hint), you'll be a virtual expert on the region.  (LOL).

I love hearing that, Elizabeth!  I can tell you that nothing has changed much out there since the 70's (except for some building updating perhaps).

It has been so many years since I have been to SF. I am due to head that way again. My husband is pushing for a wine country vacation so maybe that needs to be on the list. Very clever how you presented this by the way.....and much more interesting!

David - These are interesting snippets of San Fran life.  I'm glad I watched the video, I was pronouncing this area "Doo-bo-chee" - oh dear.  I take it this triangle is not to be confused with the Bermuda triangle.  Hey, who wouldn't want to "do the Wiggle", past all those gorgeous Victorian houses.

Showing off your "foreign" flair Sally? (lol)...I remember my first trip to Boston many years back and trying to pronounce Peabody as "Pee-body" and Worcester as "Wor-chester" (and was quickly corrected...peabuddy and wurster...who knew).  As far as the triangle goes, I've seen a few people "disappear"...usually after too many cocktails. ;-)

Like your other fans, I really enjoy these snapshots, David. Is this a Zephyr touch, or do you do your own videos, too? Very professional and very informative.

I wish I had time to make videos like this, Lottie!  No, it's a Zephyr touch and I like to pack in different points of information together to make these presentations...like a 'Reader's Digest condensed version' for each neighborhood.

David, after following your advice on the IPhone QR codes app - it works great! - I wanted to thank you, so looked you up and checked out your blog and read this post!  I've always wanted to know more about the San Francisco neighborhoods and am excited to find a good source.  Plus, your terra metrics imagery map and video are giving me new tech goals to aspire to.  Thank you!

Thanks, Wende...It does work great, doesn't it?.  I've seen so many of these apps pop up, but this one (so far) seems to really work.  And, I'm glad you enjoyed the the neighborhood smapshot presentations.  The Terra metrics imagery maps are awesome...(wish I could take credit for the video production, but that is part of Zephyr's wizardry).

Isn't that funny, Kathleen, about the local board maps...in fact, SFAR recently "re-drew" the borders on a few districts and created a couple of new "sub" districts due to local neighborhood identy transformations that have evolved over time.  My neighborhood in Cole Valley was one of them.  It branched off a larger area due to the fact that is has been affectionately called "Cole Valley" by the locals for a couple of decades now.  The City decided to make it official just a couple of months ago!  Little Hollywood off the 101 is another one...
