The 31 Days of December Challenge - Day 7

Day 7?? Can it be Day 7 already? I guess so.This afternoon alone feels like seven days!

I had a brilliant idea yesterday to create a letter that real estate agents could send to their sphere of influence - and to offer it for free along with the first time buyer letter and the letter to HR directors.

Well, writing the letter was fine. I did most of it yesterday while I waited in the truck outside the VA hospital. It was getting it into an autoresponder that felt like 7 days' labor.

Sometimes Get Response works fine, but not today.

First I tried to replace an existing letter series with this - I deleted the other one and wrote the new letter and then tried to create a web form. No luck. So I tried it with just the email address and found that what I thought I deleted was still there and the new letter was... nowhere! It was completely gone.

So I started over and that time accidentally put the greeting under "newsletters" instead of "follow up broadcasts." No, wrong place. Start over again.

Once I finally got the letter in the right place in a whole new campaign I tried to find the place to change the settings so that no one would have to do a double opt in to get it. No luck at all on that one. They've "improved" the site and I can't find anything any more.

So then I tried to create the web form. Huh-unh. We're not going there. No matter how many times I got out and started over, that page will not open.

I don't know if it's a Get Response glitch or because Wild Blue is even slower than usual today, but it's just not happening.

So, I added this letter to my freebies page with just the email address to click - and hope that anyone who wants it will remember to check their in-box and do the double opt in.

If you haven't yet figured out what you're going to say to you sphere between now and the New Year, get the letter ... You can customize it and use it as-is, or add your own personal touches.

Now I just have to calm down...

There's nothing that can drive me wilder faster than dealing with web programs that don't work... So now it's time to take a few dozen deep breaths and relax.

I still need to let all my letter buyers know about the freebies, but since I wanted this done first and now it's late in the day, that will have to wait for morning. Meanwhile, I'll tweet about it and let my Facebook friends know.

On a calmer note, I reconnected today with a client who had put his work on hold in September whle he dealt with some personal issues... and we'll be going forward with his project this week.

And... on a really happy note... My good neighbor stopped by about an hour ago to give me a Papa Murphy's Pizza!

Great job of keeping up with the challenge.. Sounds like you had a very productive day, just keep up the good work. It may be a slow month, but that doesn't mean we have to slow down.

Well Stacey, it would have been a lot more productive if Get Response had been more cooperative. I love that they let us set up completely separate lists/campaigns. But getting them set up is way beyond frustrating.
