It's almost a new year, are you ready for 2011?

GoalIt's almost a new year, and are you ready?  I mean ARE YOU READY??  You have been putting off what you need to do for a week...  Then the week extends to several weeks...  Then the weeks turn in to months, and then finally you say I will start doing ______ next year...

Well, next year is here.  So what is it that you want to do?  And most importantly, what is it that you are going to do to be sure that you DO IT?

Some of us need checklists that we need to follow every day.  Lists that make sure we make contact with 10 people a day, and post a blog every day, and update my facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter several times a day.

Some of us need coaches to kick our butts into submission on the things we know we need to do on a daily bases to ensure success.

Some of us need to say affirmations out loud to ourselves daily.  Whether in the mirror, or driving to work, or with a partner.  Affirmations that we will get a lead today, or that you are the best agent, or that you will have the confidence to close the next perspective lead.

Some of us need peer partners to buddy up with to help us each reach those daily goals.  Kind of like going to the gym with a friend.  It is easier to not go to the gym when it is just you going...  But when you are going with a friend and they are getting up at 5 am to go, it is hard for you to call and let them down.  So having that partner, you are more inclined to do what it is that is hard to do.

So what do you want to do next year, and what do you have to do daily to ensure that you will do it???????

:0)

Chris, no doubt time goes by fast.  Putting things off is a bad habit that seems to get worse and worse.  I am going to do a lot more blogging this year and see where that takes me.

I am a big checklist kind of person. I have never had a coach because I think I am way harder on myself than a coach could be. Great Post!

About VanBuren... I will go to bed smarter! That "OK" info, was right up my alley. And I always wonder about the origin of it! Thank you.

And yes, I am ready for 2011! : )

Chris - I have way too much time left to be serious about new year planning!  After all, if I make a commitment too early ... I won't have the option to change it later (LOL) ... and that's exactly what some of our business plans look like! ... Thanks for the pointed reminder!   AND .. I'm getting Mr. Van Buren as a repeat post? ... so maybe I need to read it again!

Hi Chris....great post! I was reading "Secrets of the Millionair Mind" and they author Harv Ekert made a distinction between affirmations and declarations. Affirmations being what we are trying to convince ourselves of or something we already know about ourselves and are re-affirming. Declarations are more solid. More committed to action statements. Just food for thought.

Happy New Year.

Great post Chris. We all work differently and need different types of accountability. The key is to figure out what works best for you and commit to it.
