1.1.11

If there is anything other than a New Year, which screams NEW BEGINNINGS at the psyche, it's the numerical format - 1.1.11.

This morning, I made the same resolution I have made, nearly every year for the past decade - Lose 10 pounds plus the 5 gained during the holiday season.  However, I'm in search of another goal to begin today - 1.1.11.

At the beginning of last year, I resolved to SIMPLIFY.  This resolution came after visiting the Amish in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  I still have electricity and running water in my home.  I continue to have all my tech gadgets.  But I look at life differently now.  Many things have become unnecessary to me, while family and close friends are more important.

This past year, I also resolved to be less of a hoarder. I cleaned out my closets and cabinets. I did reasonably well with that particular goal - or at least, most of it.  I gave things away, threw things out, or organized better.

I'm wondering what New Year Resolutions for 1.1.11 you are making.  I'm in search of some great ones, and hope to borrow yours.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Ron and Alexandra - I first saw a wooden sign hanging in an Amish shop, with that single word, "SIMPLIFY."  It seems in an instant, it changed everything for me.  When you stop to think about it, we've probably spent a lifetime becoming more complicated, and in the process we have totally stressed ourselves out, while overlooking parts of life which are very important in the process.

William - I had a relatively quiet New Year celebration too.  I slept through most of it. . .LOL  There seems to be more folks interested in homebuying early on this year.  I'm hopeful that it will continue and be a harbinger of great things for 2011.  A friend sent me a great cartoon.  It seems if I don't add to my resolution list before long, it will be too late:-)

Jim - 2011 is a "4" year.  It's a great time for folks to get back to work.  I'm hopeful!

Geri - You have made the same discovery I have over the years.  New or upgraded software isn't always better than what you already have.  I remember one pivotal year I ugraded a couple graphics programs, and was very disappointed to find, that the "improvements" were really only trade-offs.  I hope you have a great 2011.

Juli - I find it so odd that I spent the first half of my life frantically trying to collect things, while I'm now spending the second half desperately trying to get rid of them:-)

Marilyn - That ole "Don't Worry Be Happy" song is one of my old favorites.

Myrl - My New Year's Resolution is to simply go with my gut and NOT spend so much time with clients that (regardless of what they SAY) are actually really lookers! I wasted way too much time with people in this category last year!
