What Are You Marketing...Yourself or My Property?

What Are You Marketing...Yourself or My Property?

I recently received correspondence from a potential seller. His question, "What are you marketing--yourself or my property?"  I thought this was a reasonable question. Given the fact that all he's interested in is selling his house.

The short answer is both. When I write a blog here in ActiveRainTammie White Sells Homes or another venue, it brings me up in the Google rankings. When I'm more visible in the Google rankings, then more people click on my blog and possibly from there to my website. If I don't provide the information they are looking for, they will click away from my blog or website before they even get to see your beautiful home.

Buyers aren't interested in seeing just one property. They want to see many properties all in one location. They also want useful information about the area and tips on buying and selling homes. I use a multitude of ways to get them to my website, including writing blogs, using single property websites and off-line marketing enticing buyers to visit www.TammieWhite.com.

If buyers go to my blog, website or even a single property website and can't find anything of interest, they will click away and move to another site. This may decrease the chances of getting your home sold. So you see, by bringing attention to me, you benefit. Because the more people who see my blog and click through to my website, the better chance we have of getting your house sold.

Buyers and sellers want lots of information in one location. Otherwise, they click off that site and move onto another. Providing valuable home searches, information about the area, and useful tips about buying and selling homes, keeps them on my website.

The end result...marketing myself and my services, benefits you. It just may be what gets your property sold.

True story. How'd he take your answer? I find that each client kind of wants to feel like they are the only client.

I would think that the biggest issue sellers have is "are you leveraging MY house to grow YOUR business?"   In most cases, most of the traditional stuff IS leveraging but ultimately, both avenues are about exposure.

How about this: Actually the majority of my marketing is geared toward marketing me as I'm the only constant in my business...the houses come and go and they go because they benefit from the years of ground work laid out for them that I've already spent marketing myself!  Without my efforts to market myself out there, your home would be on the same footing at 95% of the other agents who haven't already "put the work in".

Lindsey - Well, let's put it this way...he listed with me.

Ron - When I go on a listing appointment, I am not talking about myself the whole time. The appointment is all about them. I don't go on and on about myself. I do make it clear that they will have added exposure for their listing through my efforts here. Afterall, that's all they really want to know.

SaraMana - He did.

That is a very good question, and you handled the objection well. On the other hand, when looking at your sign, it does look like it's marketing you & KW more than the property. BTW, you have a great looking sign. IMO, "For Sale" should be more prominent.

David - TN has some very strict guidelines in reference to the sign. Agents names can't be larger than the brokerage and an office phone number must be present. Since I want to definitely include my website something's got to give. Most people can surmise the property is for sale.

I re-read my post, and it could have come off a little sour.
That was not my intention. For what i's worth, I really do like your sign...

David - Please no offense taken. I agree KW is too big for my liking but it is what it is.
