Inviting Others to ActiveRain - fast and easy points

I have over 242,999 points from inviting others to ActiveRain...  My claim to fame? I invited the person who invited Lenn Harley.  I have 15,883 points from the person who invited Lenn although that person has not been very active on ActiveRain since 2007.  Thanks for joining Lenn.

Click to Join ActiveRain Real Estate NetworkMy biggest chuck of points now? 84,435 points for inviting John Novak.  John joined and has been consistently blogging since 2006. Thanks for joining John.

While inviting people you know is best, you can invite people you have never met.

The ActiveRain Invite Button

I have invited 82 or is it 91?  people including some I did not know.  I  have a lot of points from "snagging" people  with a  link or a button.  Passive inviting thanks to someone who long ago made the button and shared it on ActiveRain.

To put a button on your ActiveRain Blog's sidebar.

This code goes in YOUR settings, with YOUR referral link:

</div>

Remember to change the http://activerain.com/action/referrals/columbusoh to YOUR referral link. The referral link is there twice in the code.  See?   AR tells you below where to find YOUR referral link.

Or if you are not a RainMaker put an invite button on your profile?

Thanks ActiveRain Corp blog for allowing a Re-Blog.  Is Jim Harbaugh considering your invite?

Original content by ActiveRain Real Estate Network

One of the main catalysts for the growth we've experienced over the years, in terms of number of members, has been the ability for our members to invite other real estate professionals to the site.

One of the benefits of inviting others to the site is you earn points for doing it. (and who doesn't love some good old fashion points?) Every person you invite to ActiveRain, that creates an account, earns you 250 points. In addition to the initial 250 points you earn for inviting them, you also earn ten percent (10%) of the total points they earn on the site. We did this because we wanted there to be an incentive for people to reach out and help the people they invite to the site, as opposed to just patting them on the back and saying "good luck and have fun"

That 10% often ends up far exceeding the 250 points you get for inviting them. As an example, here are the lines in the point summary (as of 1/5/2011) for the two people that invited our current point leaders, Todd Clark and Lenn Harley:

Yep, someone was here before Todd and Lenn and sent out the invitation that caused each of them to sign up. Since Todd and Lenn are both over a million points, the folks who invited them have gotten more than 100,000 points each for having invited them. That's a lot of points.

Could you be the person to invite the next ActiveRain millionaire?

How do you invite others to join ActiveRain and get credit for it? It's simple. Here's how. On the left hand column of your 'my home' page, there is a link for 'Invite Others' (If you are logged in, you can click there and it will take you to your invite page). Once you land on the invite page, there are two ways to invite someone.

The first way (as in the example below) is to use the form we provide and input another professional's email address. Once you hit the 'send invitation' button, we do the rest.

The other option, which is often overlooked, is the ability to use a unique URL that is specific to your user name on ActiveRain. That URL is

http://activerain.com/action/referrals/arbob

That URL happens to be the one I would use to invite other people to ActiveRain. Your unique URL will have your user name at the end where mine says: arbob. Your specific URL is given in bold on the 'Invite Others' page. When inviting someone from ActiveRain, you can only invite one person at a time. If you wanted to invite more than one person at a time, let's say everyone in your office, this may take a while. Instead, you could use the unique URL and include it in an email you send to your office distribution list.

Again, you can find the invite area by going to your 'my home' page (which is a link at the top right of every page on the site) and looking down the page a bit in the left hand column, or you can access it (if you are logged in) by clicking here.

Go on now, play with it and invite some of your friends in the business, peers whom you believe would benefit from the immense knowledge shared on a daily basis here in the Rain.

~Bob

You are are one lucky Rainer, Girlfriend!  My sole claim to invitation fame, of course, is inviting Dustin Luther to Active Rain.  But Dustin, bless his heart, has other fish to fry, and my grand total of points from invitations is 3,958.  Oh well.  :-)

Maureen,

Great POINT!  I have invited quite a few folks, but not so many have taken me up on it!  It's amazing how few folks are up for the new world and seo, but hope to still be a Realtor in the years to come.

A good reminder though, I will keep trying.

All the best, Michelle

Cheryl... were you the one who made the invite button?  I tried finding an earlier post about it.  I wanted to thank whichever wonderful person shared that.

"other fish to fry"

I invited a lot of RE people who were already blogging but not superstars.  Most of them have moved on, following the next shiny object.  Or realized they are too good for AR.

Michelle  I have invited a lot of people who have not taken me up on it.  Probably 3 times the number that have accepted and I do have a lot of piddly points from snaggees...

I have also had two people take their marbles and go home, one of them twice.  A third person who I invited did not use my link to join, never did anything but when someone else we worked with used ActiveRain to bash him (I guess publicly I was not there) he took his marbles and went home (remember he had not used the link so I did not lose any points ) but he had to be sure I knew he was taking his marbles and going home and how horrible ActiveRain was... the indignity of it all... And if none of that makes sense that's OK.

Maureen ... I supposed I'd have gotten around to the blog eventually ... but your reblog put it on my radar more quickly .. so THANKS!  AND ... I admire your restraint in commenting on Harbaugh's invitation. (LOL)

Thanks Laura nice to meet you... Change your code!

Cheryl I know you are responsible for some early coolness that we all take for granted.

Jack  I had to Google who Harbaugh was yesterday.  I am semi illiterate when it comes to sports references.

June I invite so many who do not participate.  Some have joined.  Some have set up a profile.  I was very, very lucky at first to have a group I was "hanging out with" who came and tried.  My invite points grow a lot slower but they grew by about 150 to  200 overnight... from the time I first read the post to the time I  published the Re-Blog.  They compound daily (?)

2000 post?  Where do we see post numbers?  It is probably way off as I have lots of unpublished stuff that counts in on the right sidebar.  I use and abuse drafts.

When you subscribe to someones blog and you hit blogs.  On the right side of my screen has all the people who I subscribe to and how many blogs they have on Active Rain.  As you know drafts don't count.

Maureen, I have invited hundreds to join but only 6 have joined to date. I even have a join button in every email. I have gone out of my way to invite others with what I thought was a well constructed invitation letter with no or little results. Would you share your invitation letter?

June  but of course..... I was not subscribed to myself currently.  My unofficial number of posts including the drafts is 2221 the other day...  that's a lot of unpublished stuff.

Blog Subscriptions

For people who say "I can never catch up to _________" Last blog subscription here in my snippet was number one in the network I think at one point... 2007?  She seldom posts on ActiveRain anymore. She has another blog.  500 posts was a lot of posts in 2007.  I imagine KK had 500 posts +/_ in 2007.

Arleen   Thanks for stopping by.

Bob... stay tuned I could do a post on the letters or series of letters I have used to get 92 people to join ActiveRain.  It has changed over time and I may or may not still have the real thing.
