Ann, I know it's a fundraising event...and that IS an awesome idea.

Unfortunately, you would have to PAY ME to get in that water!

BTW, I'd be happy to send over a truck of snow and ice to make sure the water is cold.

No, wait. Truck probably won't get there.

We had our North Beach Polar Plunge on January 1st.  We are about to  have another one for charity this Saturday at Chesapeake Beach.  I will not be in the water but may be watching depending upon the temperature; still coughing here. :)

Ann,

I'm an advocate for charity events, but this is one I personally would shy away from.  Not because of the philanthropic aspect, but because I'm still trying to warm up from the blasts of cold weather in Colorado... g

NO PLUNGING for me, it is tooooooooo cold out there to go for a jump in the water.  Thanks anyway.  I hope that you have a successful event though.

I am a serious swimmer, who swims laps several times a week.  At one point a couple years ago, I was in good enough shape that I thought I could swim from Alcatraz to San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf.  I knew I could go the distance, I was certain I could handle the waves, and I wasn't afraid of sharks. . .Afterall, there are more sharks on land than ever dwelled in the sea.  However, one November, I walked into my health club after being on vacation.  I dove into my usual pool, and almost walked on water trying to get out of there.  They had closed the pool for the winter, and the temperature was about 46 degrees.  It was then that I knew I'd never make the Alcatraz swim.

Thom, are you still stranded by ice and snow?

Gail, FEEL BETTER!

Gordon, I sure hope it's warmer the day of the event than it has been this week!

Don!  C'mon!  You know you want to!

Connie, I figured you would be out there in your bikini!

Ellen, yes, I think being a spectator and photographer would be fun.

Myrl, I'm impressed!

Mike, too cold for me too.....but I want the t-shirt!

Joshua, Coney Island must be a good bit colder that Oak Mountain lake!

Kelly, can't say I blame you!

Ann, Gosh if I had a hot tub right there after I got out I would consider it for a good cause.  There was an event not far from here at the Jersey shore supporting the same good cause.
