History in Laramie, Wyoming.

(Post #11 in the "Why I Love Laramie" series)

History.  I hated it in school, but the older I get the more I find the history all around us fascinating.  One could never keep up with it all.  It isn't too difficult however to keep up with local Laramie history by just visiting places around town.

One of those places is the historic Ivinson Mansion.  The Ivinson family was one of the first influential founding families way back when Laramie was barely more than a dusty railroad stop on the high plains.

If you take one of the guided tours of the mansion you'll get a glimpse of what life was like back then, maybe even find out what happened to the fancy dishes when one of the Ivinsons moved out and just where all that beautiful, expensive furniture came from.  So if you find yourself in Laramie with an afternoon of nothing to do, you should stop by. It is another of my favorite places in history. ; )

Robert,    Me, Too!  It's fun to see how people used to live.  I'd say these people lived pretty well.

Brenda - That is a great old house.  Looks to be kept in great shape is it part of a foundation?  I always thought of history as a dirty trick played on the living by the dead.  Grin  I do however like to go to historic places and learn about them.  Thanks for the blog.
