Remember Why Your Job Exists

Take a moment, right now, and do something that most people rarely (if ever) do:  think about the purpose of your job.  Here's a question to think about:  Why did we create your position......why does your job exist?

Let me give you a couple of clues.  The answer ISN'T so you will have someplace to go several days each week.  And it's NOT to enable you (with a paycheck) to buy stuff and do your part to "fuel" our economy.  Those are perks of a having a job-but not why your job is needed......not why it was created.

Fact is, your job-everyone's job-exist for one primary purpose: to either make or do things for other people.   Those "other people"  are our CUSTOMERS.  They are the real source of your income.......that are the reason you have been blessed with employment.   And if they ever stop needing your services, so will your Company.  NOT GOOD!

So, if you ever catch yourself thinking......I wish people would leave me alone for a while so I can get my work done, here's what I recommend you do:  Take your hand and smack yourself in the face and hope like heck your wish will never be granted, and then get back doing what it is you're there for:  SERVING YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!!!!

Kevin,  Far too many of us forget why we are here.  My business is strictly a SERVICE business.  I bust my fanny day in and day out to provide the very best in service.  Good post!  Have a Great Weekend!
