Photos From Ellsworth Kansas - A Different Way Of Life

We just made another trip to Ellsworth, Kansas and the weather was absolutely beautiful.  I took a few pictures that might be found interesting.

The first picture is from downtown Wakeaney, Kansas where we stopped at a Dairy Queen.  It's amazing how in the center of town is a grain elevator.  This is very common in Kansas.  Why they call it an "elevator" I'm not real sure.  Being a California - then Colorado girl, these sights are somewhat different for me.

This next one is from right next to the offramp for Ellsworth Kansas.  They have put in these wind-to-energy whirlybirds.  At night, they each have a red light in the center of the blades and they pulsate at the same time.  It reminds me of invaders from another planet.  During the day they are quite pretty.

Throughout downtown Ellsworth (one street - one stop light) there are these cool iron figurines.  The first one is outside the VFW post and the second one is a dancing girl by the railroad tracks.

Hope you enjoy these pictures and find them as interesting as I did.

Hi Belinda, it sounds and looks like a very quiet town.  When I was growing up we would go shopping in a town of Butler, Pa. and all of the street lights would ring when it was time for pedestrians to cross.  Have never seen that again.  Interesting pictures and thanks for sharing.

Hi Judith.  It is a quaint town.  So different from the Denver area.  I forget that places like this still exist.

Hi Belinda,  Sounds like you described it right - a different way of life.  Looks laid back and calm.
