Long Beach Island Polar Bear Plunge 2011-Super Bowl Sunday
Long Beach Island, at the Jersey Shore is again the site of the 2011Polar Bear Plunge on Super Bowl Sunday, February 6 at 1pm. We call it 'The Super Plunge'. Registration fees benefit the Southern Regional High School Swim Teams and the St Francis Community Center.
While most Polar Bear Plunges happen on January 1, we in southern Ocean County at the Jersey Shore perfer the colder temperatures of February. Currently Atlantic Ocean temperatures at the Jersey Shore are hovering at about 36 degrees. Trust me, that's cold!
If you feel like braving the New Jersey winter and you'd like to participate in the 7th Annual Super Plunge on Long Beach Island you can still register. Click here for the registration form.
If you're not willing to brave the icy Atlantic, you can watch and enjoy the costumes and craziness this Sunday in Brant Beach at 48th Street...The Plunge is scheduled for 1pm, so you'll have plenty of time to get home and warm up before the kickoff of Super Bowl XLV!
