February 3, 1959 The Day The Music Died,
This date may be before your time but, it seems as though it was just yesterday for some of us.
So, why is February 3, 1959 known as “The Day The Music Died”Guitar Three Rock & Roll stars died in a tragic plane crash on this date.  Buddy Holly and The Crickets had a couple of big hits, “That’ll Be the Day” and “Peggy Sue”.
Ritchie Valens, just a teenager not much older than me, had three big songs, “Come On, Let’s Go”, “Donna” and “La Bamba”.
J. P. Richardson “The Big Bopper” had one big hit “Chantilly Lace” in 1958.
These three guys were the forerunners to a lot of the music that we hear today and the world lost a lot of talent on February 3, 1959 The Day The Music Died.

Did I mention these were the days of the sock hop?  Oh that could be another post.

Morning Don.  I was barely walking when this happened, but, it was the end of some great musical talent.

Are you still shoveling or just hibernating?

I have heard all these songs before. I wonder had they not passed how many more hits they all would have had.

I remember my folks enjoying this music and it carried into my generation.  I still remember some of the old movies about them as well.

Don,

I didn't know that.  Thanks for posting!  ...and keep warm up there.  We found out what you experience all the time with our 15 degree cold snap last night in Tucson
