Look Who is Playing Golf in Pinehurst.

I bet you thought it was somebody famous playing golf in Pinehurst!

Pinehurst Area GolferWell - we do get a lot of famous people who play golf in Pinehurst and some not so famous. These little critters show up every spring. As cute as they are they are not popular among those who maintain the golf courses.

It's hard to fight nature as the geese have  patterns and instincts that are strong and they come back to the same place every year to have their babies.

As annoying as they are I think that these are some of the cutest who play golf in the Pinehurst area.

We have a problem with the cutest white rabbits on our course at Trilogy of Glen Ivy in Corona, CA.  I agree they are cute but any animal on a golf course is a problem.

Hi Sharon - they keep trying humane ways to get rid of them. We don't have as big a problem with these geese in NC as we did in NJ!

Pinehurst should be on your list Mark. So much golf - so little time.

Hi Dawn - Baby geese are always so adorable.  Adult geese not so much.  : )

Hi Dawn, Very cute but I have also heard that these geese can be very "aggressive" if provoked. In fact the word was "relentless".

This raises an interesting question ... which came first, migratory path or championship golf?

I agree with that, Chris.

The adults can get a bit nasty.

Hi John, since a lot of the lakes and ponds are man made, I would expect a great portion came after the golf:)

The Little REALTORĀ® That Could

I once worked for a huge corporation and the CEO was so annoyed that he was sold on the idea that if he purchased a huge FAKE alligator (in Illinois) the Canadian Geese would be stupid enough to think it was real and wouldn't land on the property. The CEO paid a fortune for people to clean up after the Canadian Geese and he thought the purchase of the alligator would be a worthwhile investment.

Well, the alligator drew more Candian Geese to the beautifully landscaped complex and caused him more money to clean up than before!

Moral of the Story - It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature!
