My Life Feels Like a Cruise Ship Sometimes... and Not in the Good Way...
Wow, this hit me like a ton of bricks today.. ok maybe a ton of chocolate covered hearts considering it's Valentine's Day. But I just likened my life of business - and personal I guess, to a cruise ship.
Ever been on one? What is there to do?? EVERYTHING - that's what! If you are bored on a Cruise it's your own fault. I have only been on one cruise in my life and it was a short one at that but I loved it!! ~Side note- I LOVED eating a full dinner of anything I wanted, then going up to the Sushi Bar at 10pm and gorging again on that! HA ~
That being said, my folks have been on many cruises.. for weeks, months at a time. There is always something to do. You literally cannot do everything they have for you on a cruise ship. There is one activity after another... in all areas of the boat too... for all ages! You barely have time to do the relaxing you so desperately wanted to do because of the constant barrage of games, events, contests, activities, etc....
This got me to thinking about life. There is ALWAYS something to do. Take ActiveRain for example... What prompted this blog is the group Bananatude did a Valentines contest and I happened to miss it. I really love contests and am usually up for anything but missed this one this time and I feel bummed about it!
Then I started looking on my Twitter page.. there were contests there too! My competitive bone is getting ruffled because of all these missed opportunities... but if you caught my last blog about not even having TIME to blog, you can see why. I do have a lot of wonderful new clients and my first priority is to them.
I think that is the case with all of us. There are so many social networks to keep us occupied, locked into, updated and blogging about that we barely have time for business much less life in general.
We have to pick our battles as we go through life. Not necessarily pick those things to which we argue and fight over but those things that take up our time.
We can't participate in every activity on a cruise, so in life, we can't keep up with every social media, every contest and every person that comments (although I have seen some heated blogs about that lately.) We need to prioritize our life into segments that truly mean something, have value or enrich our lives and family as a whole.
So I missed some contests..... eehhhh, I won't stress... I'll catch the next one....
