You Gotta Just Do Whatever It Takes.....Sometimes.

By
Real Estate Agent with BCR Realtors 262359

No doubt real estate transactions are way more complex than in the past. Keeping up with all the legal, technical and social requirements is almost a full time job in and of itself! As a result it can often be overwhelming when a contract you have worked so hard to see to the close,  becomes slowed down again and again because of anther's errors or inadequacies or even some poorly designed bureaucratic system that none of us on a local level have any control over at all.

But sometimes stuff just happens.  And  often no matter how hard we planned and strategized things just don't want to go as we hoped for.   So.....You can waste time blaming, complaining, whining and moaning..... or you do what I have found is less stressful and more profitable in the long run ...just shut up, roll up your sleeves and go to work to solve the problem.  In the long run you will find you will see more transactions close, put more dollars in your pocket, and experience way less stress.  Sometimes you Gotta just do whatever it takes.

The Real Estate Sales Profession is no less or more stressful than any other. If a patient start to bleed on the surgery table the doctors make adjustments. If a soldier in  Afghanistan is suddenly surrounded and ambushed by the enemy he makes adjustment and if the plumber fixes one leak and another sprouts up down the line ...he has to fix it doesn't he?

We can fret and worry about the "what ifs" in this business or we can simply learn to deal with them in a professional and reasonable manner when they suddenly arise.  So the next time a loan officer calls you up at the last minute out of the blue and says "We got a problem..."    just reply " OK what Do I need to be doing to solve this"  then roll up your sleeves and get after it.  Do what it takes.

Have a properous week!

Trey,

Great advice, think how much better the country would be if we all stopped complaining and started fixing.

Trey,

You sound like me...  I'm  a   fixer.

I'm going to racking my brain to try to figure out what needs to be done and then just jump in and go to work.

Hard work never hurt anyone from what I can tell.  Sometimes we have to figure out how to work smarter... the back breaking kind of suff has to go as we age... buy those tools to get the job done... get the right electronic tools to solve those issues... but do something!  :)

Just GET'er DONE - The buyer doesn't give a hoot, they just want to get into the home they have chosen. That's why they have you to take care of all these problems. With the turnover in the industry today many folks don't know how to do the paperwork and it trickles down. The one's that survive are the one's that are a mile ahead when things, if things every settle down.

I just talked with a client about an issue yesterday and he asked what I thought because I was the expert.

So true and yet even after six years in the business and over 250 transactions, were there ever two the same? Nope!

Every deal has its own set of challenges so we have no choice but to roll up our sleeves and be the expert!

Hi Trey... there are so many agents who have never had to "fix" things to bring a transaction to closing that it is a skill set I see lacking for many of us and it seems that those who would benefit from the necessary training to remove this skills defecit are the ones who feel that they have been selling real estate for so long that they would not benfit from it.
