Buyers demand commission rebate because they made it easy for agent when they walked in open house

Buyers walked into the open house. Liked it. Asked agent to write offer for them.

But in the course of writing offer, they said they'd like a percentage of the agent's commissions since they "made it easy for the agent" when they walked into the open house. They think the agent doesn't have to work any more to find a buyer.

Going by that logic of making it easy for the salesperson if the buyers simply walk in...

So, if I go to Home Depot, I can ask the sales clerk to rebate part of her salary to me since she doesn't have to work too hard to find a buyer?

Or if I go see a dentist...i can ask the dentist to rebate part of her fees since she didn't have to leave her office. I simply walked in, making it easier for her to work on me as a patient.

If I asked my manicurist to give me back some of the money she earns, or instead of tipping her, I asked her to give me a tip --- after all, I walked into her salon ---I may be thrown out!

Why is it that people always ask/demand that agents rebate or reduce their commissions for services rendered, but these same folks won't think of asking their other service providers to do the same?

Pacita, The answer to your question is …. Because they are idiots – they don’t see the real value because they are too focused on their rebate. Throw them out on their ear!

Pacita - Because you can't fix stupid!  I'm with Kathleen, if you can't educate them on the value of your service then refer them out and let their BA earn their commission and you will still get a referral fee.

Yes, Pacita, it is frustrating. When you think of the question in itself, it does not make sense at all! Where else would you even try something like that? How personal can you get to ask a total stranger to part with his/her paycheck simply because they showed up invited? Aren't they the ones that will benefit from our services? Yikes! I have been very emphatic when I have been asked that same question. NO, I WILL NOT!
