African Violets were my mother-in-law's favorite.  You brought back nice memories of her today, thanks!

I have been amazed at the increased colors and types of African Violets that seem to come out each year.  The color of the violet in the top picture is astounding.

Myrl - there were over 15,000 varieties last time I checked. The white ones with green edges are so lovely.

Gary - thank you. It is a lot of fun.

What a fantastic post, Toni!  It sounds like it will be an amazing show but I did have to giggle when i read "problem plants".  ;)  Will them sit them in a corner facing a wall?  Beautiful photos!

Hi Toni - Congratulations on your awards!  I am an avid African Violet grower, ever since my mother-in-law passed away and left me her beauties.  She stays with us in her flowers.

Chris - Thank you. I think that's wonderful! She sure does stay with you that way. Have you gone onto the AVSA (African Violet Society of America) site. It's worth it just to see how many varieties there are.

Toni, Congratulations on your award for growing such a lovely plant with lacy flowers!  African Violets remind me of my mother.  I always try to have a plant or two blooming in honor of her.  They are such giving plants.  I just love the many varieties.  Your plant truly fit the Fairy Tale theme.  I will have to check out that website you shared with others.

All the best.
Gloria

Toni -- I LOVE violets and have purchased many but I just end up killing them. I do love all the vibrant varieties.

Gloria - I think our mothers were more into AV's than the younger generation is. I remember them in almost every aunt's, cousin's house we would go to. Now, you don't see them as much. People think they are hard to grow and they really aren't.

Barbara - I've been doing an AV series about how to grow them (really how to keep from killing them); I'll send you a link. The most harmful thing is most people over-water them. They don't like wet roots-don't let the pot sit in water.
