The Great Sprinkler Shutoff Comes to Pasadena CA

Starting Friday, March 18, 2011 and continuing until Sunday, March 27, 2011 residents of Pasadena, California will not be able to water their lawns.

This is due to a seismic retrofit by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.   As a result of this work, water supply to Pasadena and other neighboring cities will be cut off and the Pasadena City Council agreed to implement a ban.  Before the shut-off, Pasadena will lift existing restrictions to allow people to water any day.

Pasadena Water and Power will use reserves during this ten day shutdown and will replenish reservoirs with up to seven million gallons of groundwater per day.  Pasadena can count on 150 million gallons during the shutdown, whereas about 250 million gallons would be consumed under normal circumstances.

Great info. The lawns deserve a break from all the recent rain we have had lately.

Sarah --- even with the recent rains, we still have a water shortage in Pasadena.

Deepak --- I think you could be kept very busy in Southern CA with that talent!

Jeffrey --- sad but true. At least the city is taking a proactive role with the issue.  I think that's a good thing.
