And isn't it just amazing that people would stoop so low as to victimize the people who truly do need help by running scams like this?

Thanks for the warning, Georgina.  I'm alway amazed (although I don't know why) that scammers will take one of the worst tragedies and try to make an illegal profit.  Shame on them all.

Georgina, unfortunately you are right. All kinds of people attempt to prey on people who are inclined to give money for a good cause. Give money to well known organizations like the Red Cross.

Thanks for the feedback.  I hope you can help spread the word about this latest one that pretends to be coming from Realtors.

Hi Georgina...It always amazes, and hurts, me to know that there are so many people that immediately try to take advantage of any tragedy.  The same for those that take advantage of people that are already hurting whether those that are elderly or deeply in debt, whatever.  They are heartless.

To think that some unsuspecting people will donate money to this scam while so much is needed by the Japanese that have been directly affected by this disaster.

Georgina - great reminder! If it isn't an organization that you are sure is legitimate, don't donate a dime!

I got one I was happy to donate to.  My kid's dad lives in Southern Japan and is very involved with a church organization helping in a relief effort. Citizens and soldiers at the naval base in Yokouska are purchasing blankets and other much-needed supplies and personally driving them north to the affected areas. The funds can be donated online and they upload videos of the volunteers bagging, loading and delivering.  We see our dollars at work, right away and I know there is no large administrative body taking a slice. Love that.
