Daylight Savings Time- I've struggled with it all of my life!
I don't know about you but this Daylight Savings Time is doing nothing for me in terms of Saving Time and in fact I've lost about 4 hours since this past Sunday!
We have Benjamin Franklin to thank for this scrambling of our Circadian rhythms. Good old Ben thought we could be more productive and make better use of our resources by using the longer daylight hours. So around World War I they figured out a way to do this primarily as a means saving much needed fuel (coal)... it always comes back to either money or war, doesn't it.
There are even foods you can eat to help you get the Circadian rhythm back in sync. And, I'm sure that drinking caffeine is out of the question!
So around 6 when the household is wondering where dinner is... by clock says it's only 5... and at 11 while I'm still glued to my computer reading ActiveRain blogs.... someone keeps saying it's time for bed. But my body says "it's only 10!" It's now midnight but I'm still awake!
And of course... what goes around... comes around. Wake up!!! it's 6 a.m.... Time to turn on Mike & Mike and get ready to walk. Nope... my sleepy body is saying it's only 5 a.m. and there's no way I'm opening my eyes.
Therefore... if you see me before 10 am and I appear to be a bit groggy...give me another week and I should be back in the swing of things. Until then... someone just tell me when it's time to eat and go to bed!
