Every year brings new home design trends along with the occasional past trend that makes a strong comeback. Whether you are searching for a new home in Columbus, GA offering fresh and new trends or you are seeking ways to reinvent your current home, here are several new design trends you might find in 2011.

-Live-Work Spaces - it is no secret that more Americans are spending more time working at home or bringing work home with them. This change in our lifestyles has created the need for functional live-work spaces such as kitchen desk-top work spaces and versatile counter height work spaces.

-Wall Coverings and Ceiling Treatments - wall coverings definitely lost their momentum many years ago, but they are making a comeback in geometric and other bold patterns. Ceiling treatments include medallions, extensive trim, coffered ceilings, and the use of flooring material.

-Outdoor Living Spaces - this is a trend that has gained more momentum over the last several years in all price ranges of homes. The most popular home buyer "must-have" items are outdoor cooking areas, fireplaces and living spaces with weather resistant fabrics.

-Functional Kitchens with Luxury Features - from gourmet cooks to frozen dinner fanatics, the kitchen tends to be the center of family bonding at a favorite gathering spot. Home buyers are seeking functional kitchens along with bells and whistles too! Current trends include glass door cabinets, wine and space built ins, staggered height cabinets, mixed cabinet finishes, center islands, fold-away tables, and walk-in pantries.

-Bold and Bright Colors - neutral colors will more than likely never lose their place, but the use of dramatic and bold colors are extremely popular including the use of red and yellow. But if you prefer darker colors there are several trends as well including navy and dark brown.

If you are still unsure of what new home trends will work best for you, if you purchase a new home in Columbus, GA from Grayhawk Homes, one of their professional interior decorators can assist you at their Design Center.

So, if I just hang on long enough that 1957 house I live in will be right back in style?    Hmmm....

Good post!
