have you been scammed?

It's happened to most of us. The facebook scam. The item never received. Either you've been the victim by clicking on something you thought one of your friends left on your wall or you set the traps for others without realizing you gave your info to the wrong app. I came across an interesting article today that gave some good tip offs for what seems innocent but is probably a scam. I'll summarize for you:

-The first rule of thumb: If the offer seems overly generous, it probably is. If they want to give you a $500 or $1000 gift card for referring your friends or filling in your info- don't do it. This is when the saying "there is no such thing as a free lunch" comes in to play.

-watch out for "phisherman." These are people trying to get your important numbers and passwords. If someone pretends to be your bank saying you need to change your password, try calling your bank first to make sure. Those phishers are sneaky and know their way around the internet!

-Fakers. These are people who sell you products that don't actually exist or imitations. For example, fake tickets to a show or you pay for something online and it never arrives. A little trick I learned from my husband to prevent this is to google the item, and if it's a scam, you will a lot of the time find other people who were hit with the same scam and will tell you it's a fake.

There are so many more than this, but these are just a few things to keep your eye out for.

A good thing to watch out for: our real estate! Find it at College Station Real Estate or College Station Houses.

Good tips, that buy something online and never receive it is very concerning.

It seems as if there's a scam for everything in life now. It's a shame that most of these scams also target charities around the time of a natural disaster.
