BOOK REVIEW

'WEEKEND IN PARIS' by Robyn Sisman

This is my first book review post.  I LOVE to read!  I don't have a favorite author, but I do have a few that I really like.  I'm alway's open to suggestions, so if you've read a book that you just couldn't put down...PLEASE, let me know!!!

I buy alot of my books at estate sales and this book 'Weekend in Paris' was one of them.  The story reminded me of 'Bridget Jones' Diary' in many ways.  It's about a young British girl in search of the perfect career and some good-hearted adventure.  As the title suggests, she ends up spending a weekend in Paris that will forever change the way she looks at relationships and the overall way she will live her life.

The story is light-hearted, fun and offers a touch of love & passion.
It was an easy read...I finished it in just under 2 days.  This one would make a good read, in my opinion, for a day at the beach/pool or an airplane trip.  If I ever see another Robyn Sisman book at an estate sale, I will buy it!  According to a few articles on the internet, Sisman has published about 10 books with her latest titled 'The Perfect Couple'.  There's always time for a 'Fun Fluffy Read'...I consider it my favorite way to escape a bad day.

The next book I'm planning on reading is 'Water For Elephants' by Sara Gruen.

I LOVE to read.  I read a few books a week.  I like mysteries and suspense books.  I actually just read a few if you would like the titles.

YES, Debra, please share the titles of the ones you really liked!!!  I usually shake up my reading...I'll read a love story, then a Stephen King type book, then a light-hearted story, then a suspense thriller....you get the picture ;-)

I know this sounds funny at my age but I am just starting to appreciate books. My children would rather be at the library more then any other place on earth. I've probably read less the 6 books in my adult life. That being said I read tons of current events and industry related materials. I recently purchased an eReader and it has really sparked my interest, in fact I've read 3 eBooks in the last week (they were short).

Denise,  I just saw that book the other day at Borders.  They are closing stores here in Colorado and it was a feeding frenzy when I went in there.  The shelves were clearing so fast I thought they were giving stuff away.... alas .... it was only 30% off, but I did manage to spend a hundred bucks.

Do you think they are really closing or was this a stunt to increase sales.  Whatever the case, they should be happy with all the book shopping going on.

Bob - (BIG smile on my face) Warms my heart to hear that your kids love the library!!!!  I'm guessing an eReader is one of those Kindle thingy's???  I could see where those gadgets would be great for traveling, but I love the feel & look of a 'real' book.  BUT, with that said, if the eReader is the reason for your new found interest in books....then, KUDOs to the eReader!!!!

Belinda - I heard on the news that Borders was closing stores across the country.  The nearest BIG BOX Borders to me is a 45 minute drive away.  We have a locally owned neighborhood bookstore (which I LOVE) named The Country Bookshop!!!  There is an itty bitty Borders (used to be Waldens Books) here, but I don't shop there.  I'm thinking that Borders was HIT HARD by the Kindle .  AND, if they can just stay alive 'online' selling eBooks then I guess that is what they plan on doing.

Denise, I had no plan of purchasing the unit I did but it was on sale really, really cheap at Menards (like Home Depot) and when I saw that it read PDF books along with about 20 other formats PLUS it has wifi for surfing the web I had to buy it. I think it was about $70.00. The wifi is somewhat disappointing as it is very slow. You can also play video on it and it accepts a SD card.

Bob - I wouldn't mind having one of those if the wifi worked well.

Anything by James Patterson.  He is one of my favorite authors.  I just finished I Alex Cross which was great like all the rest.  I just read two by Laura Griffin that were fabulous too.  One was Untraceable and one was Unspeakable.  Great books!!

Debra - I LOVE James Patterson!!!  I read all his stuff!  I'm not sure if I've read Laura Griffin or not....I'll Google it and see if anything looks familiar.  Thanks for the recommendations!!!  Send me a message anytime you find a book that you LOVE.  Have a great weekend!

Hi Denise~ I love the idea of a book review.  I love books too.  I buy mine at Good Will.  After I read them, I donate them back to Good Will!  I'm a big fan of James Patterson, Stephend King and John Grisham.  The book you wrote about sounds great.  I'll have to keep my eyes open.
