Individualized Radio Station on Your Computer: www.Pandora.com

By

My friend and I were talking about fun websites and he told me about www.Pandora.com, a website where you create your own "radio station" based on your musical tastes and interest.  Today I registered and tried it.  I entered in the artist that I wanted to hear ("Beatles") and it first played a Beatles song, and then played other bands' songs from the same era or genre (Kinks, Beach Boys, etc.).  As the songs played, I could provide immediate feedback as to whether I liked a particular song or not, and my "radio station" would be updated to better reflect my tastes.  This is my first stab at this, but I thought it was an interesting and fun website that I should share.

Hi Deborah. I LOVE Pandora...the only problem is that sometimes I hit the Don't like button to much and then it won't let me do it anymore on that particular player---it tells me I have to listen to some of the songs. :) Its a great way to discover bands you've neve rheard of before.

I've been listening to Pandora for about 18 months now. I have two stations set-up and usually listen to my Dave Mathews Band feed, but also enjoy the Nickel Creek page that gives me a lot of new age bluegrass.

I'm going to have to check that out.  The only thing I worry about is slowing my computer down... I an too much of a multi-tasker.

Hi Deborah - I just tried Pandora this week for the first time. It was promoted by HP when I bought my new laptop. I really like it so far. For streaming music, the quality is great. And I've yet to hear a song I don't like based on my input.

Lane - I haven't experienced and drops in performance since I started using Pandora. Hopefully, you won't either.

I am listening to Pandora.com right now :) I have three 'stations' I am developing:
The Duhks Radio- kind of bluegrassy with lots of Nickel Creek and The Be Good Tanyas
Jackie Greene Radio- for that bluesy American sound, maybe some Jack Johnson will make it in
Patty Griffin Radio- the soulful, female voices that I need sometimes.

I have been exposed to so many amazing artists I would have never learned before.
