Today is a spring day in Santa Cruz, CA, very much looked forward to by all of it's residents. The sun is shining, the beach is glistening, and it's back to those moments where I'd rather be surfing.
This past month has been a doozy for Santa Cruz residents. With the tsunami warnings from the 8.9 earthquake in Japan, our harbor took a small hit, but luckily most of our boat owners came out lucky(left). We also experienced some flooding just this past week, causing quite a commotion. The San Lorenzo river flooded a bit, blocking roads to many homes and softening the soil for trees to fall. For all of those whom have had to do major repairs on their homes from this incidence, all of my best for you.
But now that spring is here, it's time to pick up on all the activities Santa Cruz does best. Santa Cruz, CA is home to one of the most world famous disc golf courses, DeLaveaga. Delaveaga is home to some of the largest tournaments in the country, in part due to it's inspiring setting and views, and the latter in it's challenge. The course changes every so often to keep you on your toes, and to add new dimensions to it's space. The Northern California competition, the annual 'Steady Ed' competition, will be held later in May, with the PDGA Pro World Championship this summer. It's amazing to think Santa Cruz, CA is not only home to the best surf, but the best disc golf as well.
And for the family, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk will be reopening soon to provide lots of entertainment for the kids. What better way to spend a spring day then at the beach with family with the chance to go on a coaster or two?
Santa Cruz, CA is definitely meant for the sunny days. With endless amounts of hiking and biking trails in our state parks, surfing, scuba diving, golfing, sailing, rollercoasters, disc golf, fun and relaxation, what else could you want?
