A Year of Growing Rich:  Showmanship

Sometimes a person who really deserves more doesn't get the recognition because they are just overlooked. Showmanship can make a huge difference.

Hill says, "...develop showmanship and watch how much easier it is to climb the ladder of success".

"There is a distinct difference between true showmanship and less honest ways of attracting attention to yourself", cautions Hill.

Boastfulness and apple polishing are seen as negative and extremes can sometimes backfire. Hill says, "True showmanship is creative. It has, as the name implies, a certain entertainment value. It demands ingenuity and a good sense of timing".

Explaining that true showmanship can be simple, he says, "Sometimes attention to the niceties of courtesy and politeness can achieve the same purposes".

By letting others know that you care and appreciate them, you will see that they start to care and appreciate you.

Hill concludes with, "But don't wait. Start now to use showmanship as a tool to build your success"!

Showmanship is something that doesn't come naturally to me, but sharing enthusiasm for a product (property listing) or person (why this buyer is perfect for this house) creates its own type of showmanship. I'm working on it!. Thanks for your series, Gary.

Lottie, I think the type of showmanship you refer to is the best type. When I read the chapter, I felt that Hill really felt that the best way to be noticed (showmanship) is to notice others.  This seems to be a very positive type of showmanship.

Gary I agree - it's all about listening to others and carrying on a meaningful conversation.  I got tell you , my Dad was an amazing showman.  As a family we entertained a lot of clients from all over the world. At dinner my Dad would take out a little 3x5 card and review it - I never understood what that was all about till years later.  He would gather stories or jokes related to our guests and use them in a timely manner during dinner.  Everybody always loved him for that.  I wish I was a good as he was at some of that stuff!!
