Encountering The Bee In Your Bonnet Person

Encountered The Bee In Your Bonnet Person

These are the just "naturally" crabby people. The Lucy character in Peanuts. The Maxine lady of cartoon fame. They can find you nearly anywhere. In a comment in your blog post. In a reply to a comment on their blog post. In the passenger seat as you drive this buyer around. An Associate REALTOR on the other end of the phone. An email communication from someone that takes you by surprise with THIS part of their personality showing. We all have our off days, but the "bee in your bonnet person" is having an especially grouchy moment. One thing I know is THEY are right and you are wrong, at least for this moment. Don't even try to reason with them.

I think some of it has to do with having a bad day or getting up on the wrong side of the bed or something, but you just have to step back from this massive crabby negativity bent on ruining your day with the venom they spew. I cut people some slack in this area on an "occasion" but if they are the persistent bee in your bonnet person I cut them loose. I have concluded very clearly it is THEM not me with the problem.

Life is too short to hang closely with these what only can be called bitter people.

Dan and Amy: It feels like that misery loves company when they surprise you out of the blue with their grumpiness. You can tolerate it for awhile, but not long.

Larry: Being the BEST YOU Larry you can never go wrong. Remain professional, polite, respectful, have dignity, and care about others. If they want to act callous or otherwise demeaning like you said, that is THEM. Don't stoop to their level.

Sharon: I love those Virginia bug in your shorts terms. Too funny. Negative Nellie's or Norman's too. I see you have been there with these people a time or two.

Gary,

They're everywhere.  Just go to church or go out to eat or look around as you're driving.  The nonverbal cues give them away - furrowed brows and scowls on their faces.  YIKES... g

Gabrielle: See, you do see them here and there LOL.

Gordon: They're everywhere. I love that observation. I think one or two who popped up in my life recently spurred me to write this post.

Hannah: Your Mom taught you well.

Good topic Gary. I treat each bee on a case by case basis. Usually if they are really bent out of shape its better to revisit with them later, though I typically like to address and handle things on the fly. Now I brought up flies... great.

There are too many positive thinking honey bees out there. Don't hang with the crabby bee in the bonnet type folk, they will never change.

Gary, life is too short to let those turkeys...I mean bees...bring you down.  But, seriously, being around grumpy people tends to make me lose my sunny disposition!@

Gary

Always like you insight about people. Yes there are some that just aren't worth putting up with and eventually you have to just stay away from.

Gary, It's so hard to know what someone else's life has been like, as we've never walked in their shoes. Some just take it in stride and live life to the fullest.  Others wear it as a chip on their shoulder. It's a choice that each individual must make for themselves.

I love this. Haven't been around some "bee in my bonnet" people for a few months and am amazed at the positive change in my demeanor!

You know I have some little kids in my home, Gary, right? Well, one day they were watching Sesame Street. My daughter loves the Grouch character. Every time he comes on, she just laughs. One day, I asked, "why is he so grouchy??" She replied, "He's happy when he's grouchy!"  Truer words have never been spoken, huh?  That from a 6 year old.  Some people are just happy being grouchy.  But like those who have replied here before me, I just don't have time for grouchy in my life. When the kids are grouchy, I make them have alone time - in a separate part of the house so that everyone else isn't affected by their attitude. It makes things so much easier.  Too bad we can't just put all the grouchy people in our lives on time out!
