L and B ... The sight of a soldier hugging his wife, the small baby he is seeing for the first time but who is six months old makes you realize what being at home really means. And you think about what we take for granted that these men and women serving in the armed forces sacrifice. Like it or not. My Dad was a B-24 tail gunner in the 15th Army Air Force. Have two older brothers who are Vietnam era Veterans too. Who in your family served, are you some kind of proud of today... not just on Veterans Day?

Tim ... We all can make a difference in someone else's life. Imagine you are a tired, not so perky soldier with jet lag, bone weary. Wondering if anyone realizes, even cares about what conditions are like where you have just spent six months or a year tour of duty. And then whoa. Look at all the total strangers that turned out to line up, shake your hands, hand you a free cell, feed you home made food, pat you on the back, shake your hand and warmly, sincerely greet you. At two in the morning in an airport you never heard of as you get off the plane to hit the bathroom and then reload to continue your journey to wherever home really is. Hearing words like "I am proud of your soldier", "Good job and thank you." "I appreciate what you are doing over (fill in the blank) and what you do is important, appreciated." Suddenly you the soldier, the entire plane feels like they are home. All connected, from this community the silver bird set down in to refuel on a long long journey.

Amazing video Andrew.  Gave this a nudge.  My husband is a vet and I live in a military town so I know how important it is to show our troops (and their families) some love for the sacrifices they make on our behalf.

Anita ... You do a job for personal satisfaction and many Veterans don't want a lot of attention, splash and would say just doing their job. But I think of carry 60 pounds of gear armament, with over 100 degree conditions in surroundings nothing like your home town and nothing familiar and well now. The greeting that others give you in one on one shake your hand, encouraging words makes each and everyone know they do not serve alone, out of mind. Maine troop greeting by persons with lots of their own personal struggles but shelved for others gives you beaucoup faith in your fellow man/woman.
