Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden 25th Annual Benefit Dinner
Last night, Gary and I went to our local AJ's for a pinot noir wine tasting. It was fabulous! We were extensively walked through 6 different pinot noirs from around the world. At the tasting, I met a wonderful wine connoisseur named Jeff McCarty.
Jeff is a boutique wine specialist for Alliance Beverage Distributing Company. I have never met anyone as knowledgeable as he in wine. In our conversation, he told me about a charity event taking place at one of my favorite Arizona places, the Desert Botanical Garden.
Picture this: you arrive at the Garden before sunset in formal affair. Upon arrival, you enjoy a cocktail in the Ottosen Entry Garden and watch the sun set. As Arizona's best feature, the orange, yellow, purple, and pink colored sunset, settles in the sky, you make your way to Dorrance Hall to bid on various items and enjoy hors d' oeuvres. Once the auction is complete, guests stroll over to the Stardust Foundation Plaza for a scrumptious dinner. Afterward, entertainment and dancing under the stars takes place in Boppart Courtyard, completing a magical night that seems to only happen in movies.
Now imagine that, although you've just experienced a perfect night, your night was memorable to someone other than yourself. By partaking in this magnificent function, you've helped out local education and various community projects. Projects like OCJ Kids, who I wrote and posted a video about yesterday.
This Saturday, April 16th, the Desert Botanical Garden hosts its 25th Annual Benefit Dinner. Tickets for the event start at $500 per person, but get this-they're sold out!
Since the benefit is sold out, I've decided to take matters into my own hands. All this talk about wine tastings, benefits, and OCJ Kids had me thinking about creating a fundraiser. So, this summer I've decided to host a wine tasting event for OCJ Kids.
I was not really sure how exactly I'd do this until I met Jeff. Upon mentioning this to Jeff, Jeff volunteered his services without any hesitation. He didn't ask for details or anything! As soon as he knew it would benefit foster kids, he was all in!
Jeff's knowledge is so vast and thorough. I'm really looking forward to this event, and I know everyone who comes won't regret it either! I'll let you know more about it as the date nears and as I work out the logistics, but I'd like to give a HUGE thanks and shout out to Jeff for being so willing to help out so quickly.
We need more people like Jeff McCarty!
