PLEASE Don't Leave Me Behind!

Reblogger Donna Foerster
Real Estate Agent with Cherry Creek Properties, LLC

Sheila Newton and her team specialize in the Foreclosure market of upstate South Carolina.  Due to the nature of her speciality, Sheila often finds personal possessions left behind by the previous homeowner.  Sadly, she sometimes finds pets left behind.

If you know someone who is facing Foreclosure and they are not able to keep their pets, and they can't find them a new home, please let them know about the resource listed in Sheila's post.  You could be saving an animal's life.

Thank you ~Donna

I can think of little else that ANGERS me to the point of actually wanting to PHYSICALLY HURT someone more than finding an animal that has been abandoned by humans who once were its' caretaker.

I have been in real estate for over 20 years, and virtually all of that time been specializing in REO, bank foreclosures and distressed properties. I have been in THOUSANDS of abandoned properties, from the most modest mobile homes to the most lavish multi-million dollar mansions, and they all have one thing in common: people. REAL PEOPLE were once in them living real lives, with real children and real toys, sleeping in real beds, laughing at real supper tables, and real family pets running through the house and in the yard...

http://www.foreclosurepets.org/When we arrive on scene to MANY of these properties that folks have left, we are astounded to find what they have left behind. We can find everything from family photos to nice antique furniture. But the absolute worst is an abandoned pet! .  I wonder how anyone could ever leave a part of their family behind like that? One of the abandoned pets I found was a young dog. If we hadn't come a long, would he have died before someone took him home with them? He was tied to post with no shade, no water and no food.. It was in the summer and the temperatures were in the 90s... One of my buyer's agents took him home to love.. She named him "Mojo" .. He has made a great addition to her family

The above photo leads to a website where you can go to adopt pet that were abandoned, or post pets you have or have found that need a home.

Donna- that is so sad.  I think people just get to the point where they have no idea what to do.  But I cannot imagine leaving your pet to fend for itself!  Great re-post.  (ps. going to the Rockies game Sunday!)

So sad.  Thanks for re-posting this.  I've seen some really bad foreclosure horrors when it comes to pets.  Really to bad this happens.

This is a great  re-blog, Sheila. Being involved with our SPCA, I'm aware of this problem and it's something we as a shelter have to deal with often.

Hi Cindy~ It's heartbreaking for sure.

Hello Jasmine~ I'm thankful that Sheila shared this with us, so that I would have the opportunity to share it again with my readers.  ~Donna

Afternoon Toni~ I'm sure you see a lot of neglected animals.  The trick is to get to them while we can still save a life.  Thanks! ~Donna

Donna - I'm so glad you re-bog this post - saw it the first time but have to comment again. For the life of me I don't understand how anyone under any circumstances can leave behind a pet - there are shelters who under extreme circumstances will take pets and they get adopted fast because they are trained and people love that - I know because I volunteer at a shelter and see it all the time. In addition, the pets are so grateful to be rescued they spend the rest of their life thanking you.

We all need to stop buying puppies from pet stores that get there animals from puppy mills that abuse and neglect the breeding dogs leaving them in cages their whole life, no human contact until they are unable to breed any more and are killed! Every puppy we by from them contributes to this horrific situation - we've rescued them and it is one of the saddest sights! People need to stop taking and start doing!
