Do I Know You? You Are My Wife?

We stop at home to have lunch before going to show MG on the Halifax to a customer, who found me on ActiveRain. After lunch I am ready to go, but my wife is changing to a different outfit.

Why?

She explained that we were in MG on the Halifax a few days ago, and she was wearing the same blouse. Does she really remember what she was wearing? She absolutely does. That’s a huge wow for me.

But fine, so what if she had the same blouse on a few days ago? What is the big thing? Turns out that the thought goes like this. When we are at MG on the Halifax, we go to the sales office and Jan will do the tour. Last time my wife was in that blouse, and Jan would sure notice that it is the same blouse, and it is a shame.

Is she serious? Jan would remember what my wife was wearing a few days ago? She’s gotta be kidding me, right? Wrong. She is dead serious.

I am trying to remember what Jan was wearing a few days ago, but nothing comes to mind. Don’t get me wrong, she was perfectly dressed, but my brain did not retain any details. I am trying to remember what I was wearing that evening… no clue. Not that I care, though…

I am turning to my wife and ask her to describe what Jan was wearing. I am sure she does not remember, but I am wrong again, she describes Jan’s outfit in details. Leaves me speechless. Of course, I can't attest to the accuracy, but looks like my wife is serious and is not pulling my leg.

All this is a huge surprise to me. On the 41st year being together I never knew we were so different. And this is my wife, who does not remember where she left her glasses or put her phone just 5 minutes ago, but somehow she remembers in vivid details who and how was dressed… wow.

It even relates to real estate. When Olga is showing a condo, she can describe the unit in smallest details even weeks after the showing. Ask me about the condo 3 days after I was showing it, and do not expect the details on the kitchen. I would have difficult time trying to remember whether there even was a kitchen. Should have been… but I do not remember.

I learned something here. We are different. (Smart people would say that I have invented a wheel). We are really different ... from women. They are the weirdest thing...

Life is full of surprises.

Even after 40 years together.
