Movie theatre coming to Crofton and Gambrills MD area

Crofton MDYes, there is a point to all that construction at the intersection of Rt. 3 and Johns Hopkins road in the Crofton Gambrills, MD area. Next year some time we’ll begin seeing stores opening at the new Waugh Chapel Town Centre. The original Village at Waugh Chapel is hugely popular, and the store selection in the new development looks like it will keep that tradition.

Anchoring the new Waugh Chapel Town Centre will be a Target, Dicks Sporting Goods and Petco, and 55+ condos. Along with those great selections for the area will be a Regal’s Cinema, with a dozen screens and an IMAX theatre. Finally, we won’t have to trek over to Bowie or Annapolis to see a movie.

My wife’s personal favorite is going to be Wegman’s, while my personal vote goes to the first movie theatre in the Crofton area for quite some time. It’s been at least a decade since the only cinema in Crofton closed their doors and converted over to Gold’s Gym. Single screen movie theatres just weren’t able to cut it anymore.

What I won’t be looking forward to is the additional traffic that a major development like this will bring to the area. It’s the price of progress, and we’ll find a way to deal with it when the time comes.

2012, and the opening of the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre can’t come soon enough for a lot of people.

Rich, we just lost our gorgeous movie theatre here in St. Michael.  It was quite a blow to the community.  It is now in foreclosure.

I think that it is great that you will now have one.  I believe that it does help all the restaurants and "saloons" in the area.

Richard

We currently don't have Wegman's in South Florida but every time I'm in New Jersey I make sure that I get there to shop. The bakery and prepared foods make the trip worthwhile.

Good luck and success.

Well that's cool, there was a time here Gettysburg just a few years back we had no movie theater. Now we two Giant mega-plexes and a restored beauty right in the middle of town.

This is great news for your local area Rich. It will create new jobs which will draw people looking to purchase and you can definitely help them with that!

Can't imagine, no movie theatre Rich. Yes it would be a welcomed addition.  Though in our area they don't seem as busy as they used to be.

Richard - If the powers-to-be plan for the traffic and built roads to accommodate any increase, then the cinema theatre will be a very welcome addition to your community.  In our area, they sometimes plan, and at other times, they are simply asleep at the wheel.

Hopefully, there is a plan to help out with the additional traffic, Richard. If it's like our area--they deal with it afterwards not before :)

Rich, we didn't have one for years here in town (there were 4 at one time) but 3 years ago or so we got one of those multi-screen biggies and it's been great...Enjoy your day.
