Have you heard of Zero Waste Home?

Have you heard of Zero Waste home?

It is a household run on green principles, they strive to produce as little trash as possible, and not waste anything. They also don't hold on to unnecessary objects in their life, and have taken the decluttering to the highest level.

It's a unique lifestyle, and if you read the comments section, you see that there is a whole range of reactions, from positive and supporting, to "shoulder shrugging and completely negative ones.

It was on Yahoo news couple of months  ago,  and it was featured in Sunset http://www.sunset.com/home/natural-home/zero-waste-home-0111-00418000069984/

Here's the link to the blog with the yahoo video.

I for one applaud Bea for the choices she makes.  My own lifestyle is not zero waste, and I'm afraid it never will become as profound as hers.

The fact that they moved from a 3000 sq. ft house to a 1200 sq ft one is one of the most amazing ones. It should be inspiring to home buyers looking to buy into a "better neighborhood", but are not sure they can find an affordable option. One can really widen the search criteria by tweaking down the square footage number.

But all things aside, as a Realtor®, I must say her house would be a dream to sell. So easy to prepare, don't you think?

It's clean, and decluttered, it breathes, and has a flow. The decor is somewhat unexpected just because this type of contemporary interiors are usually associated with huge properties. No one expects to find it in a rather small traditional style house.

I also find pictures of her kitchen very inspiring. I think I might look at them when I need an inspiration to clean.

Anna:  It is taking time but we are all becoming interested in 'green'.  Sometimes it is just the sheer cost of not going green and sometimes it is a genuine concern for Mother Earth.  I am going to take a look at the link.  Thanks.

It is very easy to accumulate things over the years. That presents a problem at sale time.

Anna--wow, she is a real inspiration and my husband and I just downsized from a huge home to a much smaller one and got rid of so much "stuff" that I am delighted.  Now I think twice about buying anything, because first I have to have a place for it, and second, eventually I have to get rid of it.  I still take out the garbage, but this video makes me think twice.  Thanks for posting this.

Anna-thanks for sharing this its really good. I totally agree with Janet, it's unbelievable the amount of possessions (crap, junk, stuff) we accumulate. I love the simplicity of a smaller footprint.Best.

Adrian, I'm glad you found it interesting. I was absolutely smitten when I discovered the ZeroWaste. It's a great concept to strive to!
