Ozzie Smith to be honored in Springfield, Missouri

Southwest Missouri is Cardinal Country so I've been a St. Louis Cardinal fan since I've been a little kid. And of all the Cardinals Ozzie Smith, all-star short stop, was one of my favorites.

Well the former Cardinal great will honored as the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame's 21st Legend on Wednesday as part of the Baseball Enthusiasts Luncheon at the hall, 3861 E. Stan Musial Drive.

He will unveil his bust, the work of sculptor Harry Weber, following an introduction by fellow Hall of Famer Whitey Herzog who just so happens to be one of my favorite managers of all time too.

So if you want to attend call the hall for info. The luncheon begins at 11 a.m and tickets start at $40.

Billi, I hate to say it, I remember Ozzie's Rookie year. He had a great career and seemed to be a positive player. Not sure how many All-Star Games he played in but it was quite a few.

Thanks for the local post.

Billi, Ozzie was the best showman in baseball in his generation.  He was really unique!  What a great player and a well deserved honor for him!
